My Dad, his dog and his Orchard full of Daffs.

Took this picture today and as promised a while back I've posted it for you all to see, I was surrounded by at least 5 different varieties of daffodils and found my camera was a bit limited to get it all in, I could have done with a 360 deg lens.

Its been a good year for the Daffs so lets hope its also a good year for all us Healthunlockeders. :)

Hi Wendells, My dads never happier than when he's outdoors and walking Bron. Its a good year for the Daffs it seems, they obviously like a bit of rain and they certainly got that this winter.

Dads always had a good head of hair even though it turned white at 40, I follow him with the grey but I've gone a little thinner on top than he has :( . Never mind eh' they do say a balding area on top is only a solar panel for a sex machine :) .

Wow! What a display. Better than any public park. Sara

Hi Sara, you would like dads orchard, later in the year the nettles take over and it becomes a breeding ground for nature and 'butter-fly's'. October is another good time when there is a variety of apples to pick, I paticularly like the red Spartens.

I think they will find the sheep in the other field

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to Trotter

I was very fortunate to have been brought up there, we used to have geese, chickens, golden, silver and common pheasants, not to mention my pets a little owl, 'Olly' and 'Jack' the jackdaw who could talk and wolf whistle. :) never had any sheep though. How's that plonker Rodeney these days Dell?

Watch this space knitter for some great apple orchard blossom. One man and his dog might be in it too :) Tony x

Such a lot of work looking after a beautiful garden glad its not trying to do it.

Dad does put a lot of work into his garden but the orchard is left mainly to do its own thing as a kind of mini nature reserve. I wish I was fit enough to help him more, I never would have believed that he would end up fitter than me at 81 with me a snip of a lad at 54.

What a beautiful place to spend time in. One to add to the scrapbook in my mind. Thank you Tony - D x

Hi DD, Dads orchard is a great place to sit quietly and forget your troubles. Later in the year his many different bird boxes are alive with activity. You would love it there but you would have to stay under cover at night and beware of the Tawny Owl :)

Tony xx

I want to be in that orchard, it's fabulous. x

Its a great place and its a shame my camera can only capture a small section at a time. I should be getting some more great snaps from the nearby wood which fills with bluebells soon so keep your eye out. Tony x

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to misslolapots123

Ha Ha, Dad will be pleased that there's a misslolapots out there that thinks he's cute. I'm lucky that he only lives about 4 miles away so I can visit easily. I do walk it sometimes but it means going over the Malverns which is pretty hard going as you can imagine, but he will always bring me back in the car.

Hi helingmic, enjoy that time away from the AB bottle, (whatever that is) and lets make the most of our spring/summer this 2014. Glad you enjoyed my dads orchard :)

I'm waiting for Bluebell Woods next to my daughters in the Chilterns. I adore blue flowers

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to peege

Yes lets hope the bells are as good as the daffs have been. There's some great places to see Bluebells near here so I'll be snapping again soon.

Tony

Oh, that's a lovely picture Tony of your dad and the dog among the daffs - the two different colours make a nice contrast. Spring is coming in now and I saw my first ladybird the on Friday sunning itself on a leaf :) A friend also heard the cuckoo for the first time.

Lovelight x

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to

I havn't heard the cuckoo yet but there have been some butterflies around when the sun is shinning. There's one large yellow one that always seems to be in our garden at the moment and our camellia is buzzing with bee's so things are really improving now. We'll soon be in shorts and 'T' shirts with a bit of luck. :)

We have a wood near us it has all wild flowers growing we also have daffodil it really is a beautiful place and summer time people go and pick the blackberries

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to onamission

There are plenty of primroses out in the wood close to my Dads and they'll soon be joined by the bluebells so lots to look forward too. :)

I love bluebells so beautiful when they grow wild they look so nice.

dall05 in reply to onamission

Well we shouldn't have long to wait now, then we'll be swapping yellow for blue. :)

Heaven on earth

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to joke

It really is a great place to be when the sun is shinning, just behind me is a stream which starts at a spring only 1/2 mile away on the side of the Malverns. The spring is the same one that 'Malvern Water' was piped down to the Bottling factory until it closed recently.

Somethings just have to be shared don't they, it would be a shame for only a few to see such a wonderful sight. This is the good side of the internet, you can snap it and post it in minutes for all to see.

Lovely picture, real feel good quality to it, fingers crossed everyone has a good year, hubby just getting over another flareup, but steroids and antiboitics are working well and he is on his 4th week of PR and enjoying it

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to thomas8

Well done to your hubby, I first went along to PR about 3 years ago and loved it. Ok the exercises can be a little hard going but I have improved so much from doing them that I can only sing their praises.

I also enjoyed the educational side to it and have found that knowing as much as you can about your condition can be very useful when talking to your GP and chest consultant.

Yep' thomas8 lets hope hubby can soon kick those steroids and antibiotics into touch and have an infection free year.

Thanks Tony, hubby is doing well at the moment, fingers crossed we are on the upside, and yes the PR is well worth doing and he is getting a lot out of it and the benefits are beginning to show not least on his waistline
