I got an irish joke banned the other day,very pc i thought,wondered if someone who was upset with my Scottish joke complained!!
Anyway, shall abide by the rules,& not mention any nationalitys in future,rather sad realy,as no harm was meant in it!

Didn't see your joke but am sure I would not have been offended. There are a lot of jokes talking about how miserable us Scots are so I presume it was something along that line. But I wouldn't worry too much if I were you there is always someone waiting to complain. Take care M xx

Know what you mean. Put me on the naughty step for mentioning a certain hair colour.Wouldn't mind so much except I'm that colour...or was.Took my jokes down that had been there a few weeks but left other jokes up that others had posted on the same hair colour.

If you use the Search thingy, there are still jokes about a certain colour there....but one of them is the same as one that I had removed before being banished.Then they wonder why people go underground and emerge with two or three different names.

Hi Wendells, Sorry your joke was banned. Sign of the times I suppose! Over the years I have asked people of certain nationalities about their take on jokes that use their ethnic origins or colour as part of the fun of the joke. Some people don't seem to mind but others have said that they get upset when they are portrayed as a nation as stupid, or cheap, or free with sexual favours, etc. No matter how much this is not meant by the joke there are some that will always take offence. Yeah, we all seem to be 'Walking on egg-shells' these days, Wendells, though most of us are from an age when people were made of sterner stuff ! 
Free speech should be free speech. Jokes by there nature are there to shock and make you think left of base. I do find some things offensive but If I do I will ignore it or reply.
Where the problem can be is when it spirals out of control because it has become a slanging match and that does not make a good forum.
I think this forum is great as many issues are discussed including benefit help and advice which is not political but sometimes seems to be deemed to be?
We must all remember that we are putting OUR OPINIONS and IDEALS which we may not all agree with BUT we are all on here because we have lung conditions that we can share our experiences with each other in so many different ways.

Just got back from docs with the wife and she has Mumps so now I am waiting to see if I start to swell up as I have never had it either and the doc has said we need to sleep in separate rooms as she is contagious for the next week 
Please don't worry about it. There is always someone looking to complain about something or another. I am Scottish and often the butt of my English friend's jokes! The world seems to have gone a little bit crazy and really, people should learn to keep things in perspective.
Talking about keeping things in perspective......I have numerous health issues (like most of you), and I am at the scary stage just now because I don't have enough knowledge about the extent of my problems because I am waiting to see a consultant. Try and picture this scene if you can....I fell asleep on my couch last night while propped up on pillows. I was awakened from a deep sleep with a heavy pressure feeling on my chest. I thought, oh great that's all I need now, a heart attack! My breathing was slightly laboured and found it difficult to move. - I just lay there thinking for a minute (not opening my eyes). All of a sudden I heard a soft snoring sound. It was my cat who was lying on my chest!! I felt a bit silly to say the least, but I did have a good laugh to myself.

Oh huggs,I am still laughing,what a hoot! Mind you,I can understand your fear of such a weight on your chest,my goodness,that must have been a relief,when you knew the cause,bet you felt 10 years younger! I can just picture the scene!
Hope you feel a bit clearer about things,after you see the consultant,don't forget to write down anything you want to ask,before you see him,I learnt that the hard way,walking out & remembering what I had wanted to ask 10 minutes later!!Let us know how you get on,txs for cheering me up!xxx

Wish I had seen the joke Wendells coz I am sure I wouldn't have objected. It is all very difficult these days and I guess if a joke has even a slight risk of offending anyone then it shouldn't be posted. Does seem a shame though.

I hate this pc world we live in now, the British are renowned for their self deprecating humour and using humour to make light of terrible deeds and occasions, it's how we deal with problems - or at least it was! Now we are all supposed to make a public spectacle of ourselves by apologising for things our forebears did, showing our tears to the general public via camera/newspapers, mass hysteria of laying candles, flowers, toys for people we have never met and telling the world our problems via Jeremy Kyle etc. Just very glad I'm not growing up in this pc humourless (unless you count foul language and toilet humour) age. Well I am into my Eighties now and can always remember the best jokes were always about the Englishman, the Scotsman, Welshman and the Irishman.
Political correctness has created an association of certain words to suggest racism or terrorism. We hardly feel threatened by Blonde......but say or write the word Moslem and Wow! that is just the tip of the iceberg.......!!!
A joke is intended to make people smile, to share a moment outside the complexities of daily life, if we err, let the moderator sort it out, but remember most of us have no wish or do we condone hurting or insulting any human being regardless of who they are.
Here is one oldie:
There's an Englishman, Irishman & Scotsman all talking about their teenage daughters. The Englishman says "I was cleaning my daughter's room the other day and I found a packet of cigarettes. I was one of the first remarking on the disappearance of your joke, and suggesting that you use a friendly,more tolerant forum. Never guess, it disappeared. I dont use BLF very much now. It fulfills an excellent need for genuine medical and lung queries, but anything else forget it.
