Try sitting in a chair and stretching out one leg and hold back your foot a few seconds, the do the same with the other foot.

I had this complaint turned out was my medication once dose was lowered the cramps went.

Don't know if this will help? But I get terrible cramp in my calf muscle at night. I looked it up on net and now drink some bitter lemon every day. The quinine is meant to help and I haven't had it so bad in past 3 weeks.

I sympathise! Drives me round the bend. Painful too. I've no way of preventing it but do a little dance when I get it. Usually in the middle of the night! The joys!!

Hello snow54flake, I get awful cramp in my feet and arch, does it ever hurt,I usually put a wheat bag on it,that's if I can hop to the microwave to heat it,my doctor gives me quinine for it, which really does work, like you I suffer from cold feet, yet sometimes they also burn as well, don't know why !

Hi Marian, I had the same problem with cramps in the feet at night and by chance was reading a leaflet at my doctors which included a section about how low potassium can cause cramps. I have a full bloods check once a month and asked them to look at the potassium levels. They said they were slightly outside the margin, on the low side. On the leaflet it said eat bananas or peanuts as they contain high levels of potassium so I did.

I cant remember the last cramp I had now so it worked for me so give it a try. :)

walk in bare feet on a cold floor ..... that'll clear it quicker.

An old wives tale says lack of salt causes cramp - potassium.is a salt, but a good salt.

I too suffered from this but it was day and night and so bad it made me cry. Doctor changed my inhaler from symbicort to clenil. No more cramp!

I take a quinine tablet every night which takes care of the problem. Just another pill!! Popplewell

I used to get fearsome cramps in my calves, some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. The doctor put me on quinine which I took for a long time. It seemed to sort out the cramp for me but I collapsed with bilateral pulmonary emboli and could have died. I stopped taking the quinine when I checked the possible side effects and found out about potassium shortage being the possible cause of cramp. My wife and I share a banana every day and I don't get cramp any more. It could be that it wasn't the quinine that caused the blood clots but I had them twice and I am now on Warfarin for life. Just some info for you, I hope you get it sorted out - George ....

My husband diabetic and he has high potassium levels he can't eat bananas, lentils, chocolate, can't drink coffee, restricted on milk, can't have mushrooms, too much bacon, cheese, strawberries tomatoes. He has to take quinine tablets for cramp because of this. So fill your boots with all the above goodies and cramp should disappear. PS I got cramp because I was also having his diet, now back on the coffee etc. good luck

Yeah, Snowflake, nearly every evening now and it drives me up the wall. I use the same method as you to relieve it, but it takes a while. Normally starts off in my BIG toe and spreads if I don't catch it quick, as if we haven't got enough to put up with eh ?

Obviously another problem we all share! My answer is to leap about swearing very loudly and drink tonic water.

Works for me - particularly the swearing!

Hi snow54flake

I never used to get cramp until i started useing seretide 500 in 2013 and i know that useing that inhaller was giving my bad cramps, i sometimes had to jump out of bed and stand up to get rid of it

so it must of been a side effect of the inhaller
