Any fast way to cure PND? (Post Nasal Drip)

Hi everyone, I've had PND for a week now and it's been causing me breathing problems and coughing up swells of mucus. It's getting quite annoying. My doctor gave

me Veramyst Nasal Spray but that doesn't seem to help. Any advice?

Hi

I use brand name, Flixonase or Avamys active ingredient fluticasone.

From GP. It works for me.

Hi Royal. I've suffered for years with this and was taking flixonase and antihestamine. It suddenly flared up really bad one summer. I was vomiting huge amounts of mucus for days and felt like I was drowning with the stuff.

The Dr said it was my acid reflux and gave me a leaflet. He doubled my Lanzerapole dose for 2 weeks plus I had to take Gaviscon 4 times a day.

I looked at him like he'd gone mad but when I read the leaflet, it appeared right. Anyway, the treatment worked so it must have been my stomach.

I still suffer with it but I've never had it that bad again since. It's horrendous isn't it? If you have reflux maybe you could look into it.

I used to use Flixonase though it switched to Nasonex at some stage. It certainly helps.

At PR they kindly gave me a saline nasal rinse bottle that I use at worse times (like now). That helps too. I was given Montelukast to help with the allergic aspect of asthma but I'm oretty sure it also helps with the sinuses & PND.

I'm a bit fed up of being a snot machine at the moment

It wasn't intentional. Doc gave it to me for asthma, it's only by chance the sinuses are a bit relieved. I can even smell slightly better than I could. Just a bonus (& I've no idea if it improves my asthma)!

peeg I use nasonex 50 micrograms and its helped me,and I buy sinus dual relief, xxx

I use Nasonex (or whatever the pharmasist decides is the same) Its a steroid spray, more steroids I know, but it does seem to dry it up.

I was the same I used bring up loads of slime and after and while eating my nose runs like made I too have reflux and I take tablets and peptic liquid which has helped with the slime but not the runny nose when eating. If I use the nasal spray to much my nose bleeds which might be the Warfarin I am on as well not helping there :(

I found that the steroid nasal sprays aggravate the problem after a time taking them daily. Try a saline nasal wash (google neilmed) + gargle with hot salt water. I find it helps a lot, may not cure it but manageable. The gargle can be ordinary table salt, but the saline wash chemist bought or, if you make your own, needs to be pure salt - no anti caking chemical. I do it night and morning, and as required (sometimes after food) in the day.

Good luck, I know that PND is a chuffin' nightmare.

PS If you find the prop nasal washes expensive, search how to make it yourself - easy when you get the right salt.
