Hi all,

Does anyone know of a portable concentrator that will deliver 6 lpm? I'm still on ambulatory but would love to get out and about a bit more.

Many thanks.

Margaret

Hi

Have a look at.

healthoxygen.com/sequal-ecl...

This is for the new eclipse 5...

You may be able to have a eclipse 3 or equivalent from NHS. Speak to your supplier.

Then Speak to your respiratory nurse for suitability and order form.

I had a look at this a few months ago stone and liked what I saw. Unfortunately (or perhaps, fortunately!) they upped my litreage before I bought and I am now outside its parameters.

I notice that it's 6Lpm is only delivered on pulsed mode not on continuous flow, so Cressie, you need to be aware of this. Also, on 6Lpm, depending on your breathing pattern, the battery will only last between 11/2 and 2 hours when out and about. Not very long really. It can be run on a car battery so you wouldn't use any battery getting from A to B in a car. And you could charge up if visiting a friend. But if you want to walk around town shopping etc you only have 2hrs max. You could buy an extra battery which is quite costly, and heavy to carry.

This was the frustration I've had. Lots of lovely sounding POC's out there but, at a high litreage, batteries won't last very long. I've had to stay on cylinders which give me 5hrs pulsed @ 5 - 7Lpm. Two of these keep me covered for the day. But they are ugly brutes, and heavy.

I do hope you find what you are looking for. Come back and let us know what you decided and how it is going. I'd be interested to hear.

thanks very much for all that info Happyfeet. You've hit the nail on the head with not being able to have continuous flow. No good to me I'm afraid. Doesn't sound very hopeful does it. But I'll keep looking for a while and will certainly come back with any good results.

Thanks again.

I don't know of a 6 ppm machine, but for anyone interested I have the following to give away - but the taker must arrange collection: (1) AirSep Focus concentrator, pulsed supply equivalent to 2lpm, weight 1Kg, wear on belt or shoulder strap. VGC, about 18 months old, includes 4 re-chargeable batteries, original cost £2400; (2) PariTurboBoy nebuliser. Location South Lincs. More info ring 01775 713425.
