Just a short post because I inadvertently gave false information yesterday. Stitch has not been and never was restricted. She has been permanently banned from posting on the site.

Edit:

This post is not to cause trouble but to inform Stitch's many friends.

Hello Toci Am I allowed to ask why stitch was banned?

I do not really know, and neither does she.

What on earth .... Why didn't Stitch have a chance to defend herself.

I was just a little worried that we could do something inadvertently and get banned with out knowing what for.

May be we need to read the guidelines a bit more to get some idea why.

Moderators have said they will not discuss it with 'us lot'. There was some stuff pasted on another topic over the weekend, but that's been deleted. It's not for us to debate, and the one person who could given an answer (if she knew herself) cannot post any more. All that happened with the previous thread was that some used it to launch attacks on other users here, hence it being deleted. :(

What kind of justice is that ? no right of appeal. I feel Stitch has had shoddy treatment here and her contributions will be greatly missed. She should have been allowed to defend herself.

i have to agree with the above post, i can only say stich has helped me in the past,, greatly.

can anyone tell me who the moderaters are?

Sorry Jimmy, I don't have a name, just a 'Moderator' from the BLF.

You would get a better hearing if you were had for some major offence, in court. I suggest the red card system as in football. People getting banned upset a lot of vulnerable people in this forum. I do wish the mods could see that. Zero tolerance is all very well but unfeeling.

Seems very heavy handed punishment to me for someone who is obviously not well and has recently suffered a very nasty physical attack. What ever happened to showing a little compassion in our caring society?

Absolutely right Tony.

Someone with daily struggles, doing her utmost to add quality to her life, seems very wrong indeed. We all have off days. Peeg

Im sorry Toci but was this post really necessary. No offense to Stitch intended what so ever.Enough is surely enough.

Are you not making a difficult situation worse! Please there is nothing we can do personally, but it is upsetting to keep having to read another post on the same subject.Sorry.

Sorry Jane. It is just that I had said she was restricted and so others were expecting her back at some point, so I thought I'd better correct what I had said. xx

Such a shame this is. As a relative newcomer I always found Stitch to be warm and friendly but did notice that others often spoke against her. Some of the comments that were made on the other post about her were just so incendiary that I am surprised that a lot of other people were not permanently barred from the site. Are there differrent rules for different people here I wonder? I will watch and wait to see.

O dear I am sorry, hope she's got support around her, just wondering if it's possible to have someone in a 'mediation' role get involved when people get upset with others, just an idea, peace all x x x

Hi Toci.

As you know I just got out of hospital today so this news is news to me.

I was wondering why there was no posts from Stitch and I also see no posts from BlakeyC.

Both very nice people along with others, who gave me strength and compassion and helped me feel good about myself.

I do hope the moderators reconsider this ban as I find it difficult to believe that stitch would intentionally say anything to cause distress or upset to anyone.

Tom.

Thank You Toci.

I have just been on the other site to try and talk to Stitch and BlakeyC. I found it very difficult to navigate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tom.

NOTE TO MODS:: Please reconsider your decision regarding our friends, I am positive that it is unjustifiable, they are very very nice people like us all here, who also have a lung condition.

For once, mods, could you show compassion to the people in this forum. THEY MISS STITCH. so listen.

I feel sad about this as Stitch's posts along with the regular photos she posted cheered me up. Whatever the difficulties which seem very unclear at this point I believe Stitch to be a really great model for those with lung disease. So often people want to give up - especially those shocked with new diagnosis, or like myself when in middle of severe exacerbation. To see someone who uses oxygen going out to art classes, travelling to see family, still living a good life despite having a bad condition to deal with is inspiring to me and many others. This is a loss to the forum.

HuwieHex profile image

I think Gordon57 said it all. Further discussion of this is pointless and would generate far more heat than light.

Whether you are right or wrong about further discussion Huwie, this is surely meant to be a democracy so it will unfold as members want it to.

Contact Stitch here freshstart.myfreeforum.org/.

This forums moderators need to realise that this is a community and communities are made up of different folk, races, cultures, religions etc and "clashes" or differences of opinion are bound to occur. No other community would banish someone for setting a foot wrong. Penalise yes but not banish. When friction occurs, whats wrong with a bit of guidance, arbitration and talk? It might not solve the problem but at least there is a chance. The situation could be rectified. To ban, without any form of warning or appeal is not an option that any other community would consider or take. That is a Dictatorship. I have no doubt that I will be banished today because I have committed a cardinal sin....being critical of the Moderator. When this site was revamped to this super duper all singing and dancing faisco, the moderators had suggested that nothing other than health related topics should appear on their new site. Members voiced their concerns and reluctantly the let people share pictures and stories of their pets, oil paintings they had just finished, family matters etc and heaven forbid....humour. Now they are bringing in their aims via the back door by banishing the folk that posted these. Luckily, before they remove me, I have managed to register on the forum in two more identities, like others have so it will be only the name I lose. If, when I am ill and housebound and I need company, I came here. Now, when all of the posts are describing other folks conditions, deteriorations, hospital failings etc, instead of helping to pick me up, it has me reaching for my wooden overcoat. Good luck and speak to you all later.

From one Brian to another I agree 100% well done.

tomc profile image
tomc in reply to CornishBrian

I agree with everything you have said, However I don't think that anyone should feel the need for two identities.

To.

CornishBrian profile image
CornishBrian in reply to tomc

Neither do I really but some time back, the real "trouble" makers had several identities and would often start by having a disagreement with each other and then dray others in. The reason I set up duo identities was to show to myself it could be done and then when I was restricted, as a back up. The reason....no matter what happens on here, I am still unwell and need help and support. If I got banned, banished, call it what you will, I could still get help and advice when I needed it....that is basically the sole reason. My lungs may be shot, my life may or not be curtailed but when I need help and advice, I can still get it. Stupid aint it. At the moment, going through PR and everything, I could climb Everest, I am feel that well and I would like to encourage others to take that option if it is offered.

Oh my good night, login. I have trouble deciphering what it says on a twin pack toilet roll....is them one of them wise old sages sayings, philosophy from Aristotle, Pythagorus's theory or summat off the back of a box of matches but it's deep, very deep. There used to be a saying on the radio, Home service I think, in the 1950's..... " No offence offered, no offence received, I'm sure"...thats me......don't want to upset no one or be upset...just want to live life to the full and enjoy it. Today is St Pirans day...the Patron Saint of Cornwall....what you've said must be as deep as the deepest abandoned tin mine in Cornwall.....thank you, I think.( I don't do that "Lol" or anything but ta...very much). The point tonight for me is KOC....our friend who sadly passed away....never met him but we only lived a few miles apart...his name was Richard.....Richard Cornish...and so that name sort of built a bond...apart from the fact he was knowledgeable and sharing but had a brilliant sense of humour...several bonds in one....he would be weeping now if he knew what was happening to the

forum......

tomc profile image

No it is not stupid to have that safety net Cornish, I totally agree and understand your reasoning which is an innocent logical approach to a very annoying and frustrating problem.

These trolls who have a disruptive reasoning behind there pseudo naming should actively be hunted down and removed, not genuine users.

Glad you could climb a mountain, maybe when I get more stable we could do it together ( and have a few as well ) but only with both feet firmly on level ground eh!.

Well, it does seem this site is 'up the creek', what with lots of strange Asian posts and now all this unpleasantness about Stitch; much as it should be of help to people with lung diseases it just seems to be deteriorating into something else.

Hi Toci, Thanks for making it clear about Stich I have not been on much and for what i can see i have done myself a favour, How can we keep offering support and help to others when they are reading various posts and realsing this is not a nice place to be, As Gordon said the moderators don't want to discuss their decision with us how can we tell the newcomers what they can or can't do or say. I still don't know what stitch or BlakeyC have done wrong. and from what has been said I probably never will! What I do know is this, I cant believe the action to be justified against what I concider to be very genuine and nice people.

The Health Unlocked Support Centre says: "As a member of a HealthUnlocked community you can publish posts to other members of your community for advice and support." You published this post which follows neither criteria.

in reply to HuwieHex

I think toci posted it in good faith to set the record straight about stitch and what had happened , can we move on now please,

grandadbrian profile image
grandadbrian in reply to HuwieHex

Have we arrived at a situation where we need to consult the rule book before we speak then ? I would suggest that if this post is outside the guidelines then so are a large percentage of recent posts. This kind of attitude is liable to put members off posting in case they break some guideline or other. I am sure the poster had no intention breaking any rule but wanted to correct an earlier mistake.

in reply to grandadbrian

exactly, toci was correcting a mistake, xxx as toci said,

Toci profile image
Toci in reply to HuwieHex

Yes, you can publish a post for support. This is a post I published, for support.

The rules also state, and I quote:

"All posts should be kept on topic. Side discussions about other issues and general chit chat should not be started that will result in a post going off topic. A new post should be started to discuss any other issues.

Any off topic comments or discussions will be deleted."

All I am asking is that any other discussions should take place elsewhere, as this post was not put up for arguments to develop. :)

I notice we have a new member called stitchb who has yet to post. Please be assured that this is NOT an alias for the Stitch who has been banned; just as blakey2 is not BlakeyC. Neither of them are devious enough to have set up multiple identities.
