Reminds of of my childhood. Sitting round the fire and someone would start us off with "it was a dark and stormy night and the wind it blew like thunder and the Captain said tell us a tale and I went on as follows..........

Happy memories.

It's doing that very thing right now outside and the cat mistakenly thinks I'm going to open the front door for him. :D

Ha Ha made me laugh. My cats ask to go out when I open the door and they hear and feel the wind change their mind. They start with the back door, then patio and finally front door, End up using their litter trays.

He's doing my head in tonight, this is the sixth time he's sat on the little step by the front door and whinged and when you get up he runs off. Me and the cat are going to fall out (again). He hates the litter tray with a passion and would rather cross all paws before using it LOL.

Tales of boats on high seas, ghosts and goblins, hags in shawls, black horses and headless men, haunting, mayhem & murder. Chilling really some of the stories we made up. Then there was card playing, knitting, paper dolls, painting & drawing & music and a myriad of other things all on a long dark rainy night. Sorry Suzy I know you wanted a story. Just couldn't resist. Now I'm going to fiddle with my i player, and make a few phone calls while I watch TV and come back to the computer later. Blast, its so dark and blowing a gale with the rain coming down in sheets outside! x

Hi Suzy6, The wind is blowing a gale here as well, only we have the added distraction of security fencing outside my back door, trying to blow down. I will be glad when the workmen have finished out side. I used to like being in a caravan when it was raining. Nannyb xx

My granddad used to tell us stories on nights like that, I`m 62 and still hide under the blankets remembering his ghostly stories.

Our dog who is dead now used to go to the door and if it was raining, snowing or blowing a gale he would stop in his tracks looking up at me as much as to say " you are kidding aren't you" and just would not go over the threshold.

Funny this animals.

My Uncle Phil used to tell a tale that started just like that one suzy6. In his spookiest voice he'd go. "One dark and stormy night, two fella's walked across a bridge, and one said to the other, Bonio, tell us a tale and this was how it began... and then he'd repeat it again and again, while we sat with baited breath, then he'd burst out laughing when we started getting impatient. lol.

oooooh indeed, the wind blasts its way over the roofs and rattle at the door and howls passed the shed! And I press my eyes shut and my nose into my duvet, but the howling is strong and the whistle shrill and the night is dark, dark, dark!
