Hi all Healthunlockeders, 3 1/2 years ago now I found myself having to learn to walk again after being lay in a bed for 4 months. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of getting my legs back even though at first I could only manage about 10 meters before collapsing in a blubbing heap on my bed with tears of joy pouring down my face .

This link brings it all back to me as though it was yesterday. youtu.be/v4L8L43GieE

So pleased for you, dall05, that you can get to near normal. It proves a point to the good that exercise can do. Guess that you are a lot younger than me. X

Exercise is the key and your only as old as you feel, in my case about 110 xx

Its a good feeling knowing your doing something to help yourself eh' MC, along side the experts. From what I have experienced the experts respond accordingly if they can see your doing your bit too.

Jumping Jack Flash was my 1968 favorite and still gets played in this house quite a bit by yours truly.

I enjoyed crossfire Hurricane on the TV not to long ago.

Roger Daltrey just captured that feeling of the moment I got my legs back. It was a moment that I'll never forget. I knew I was ready to go home after a very tough 4 months.

You have been an inspiration to me and I guess many others.

I have just bought a mini cycle which I keep next to my chair so I can pedal away, and it doesn't take up much space....seen them on eBay

We have them at fit to breath and as you say they are compact and good exercise too. A good investment to a fitter future, well done knitter. :)

Thanks Sara, getting my legs back was just the beginning of the long road to proving the experts wrong. They said I would probably be stuck at home on permanent oxygen. Ha Ha.

Aww young Tony, you bring a tear to the eye.If anyone deserves a medal for perseverance,& endurance, its you! Such a great role model for all xxx

Rock music gives me a buzz Toci, that makes what could be boring exercise so much more fun.

When I got my legs back I was 'freed' from the restriction of my bed and wheel chair. I couldn't believe that I was walking again after so long. Of course the physio's didn't stop there, before I knew it they were trying me on the stairs with a walking stick and then on to a sit to stand and a six minute walk.

I remember my first 6 minute walk I was followed by my daughter with a wheel chair and the physio carrying the oxygen bottle. I managed 100 meters on 5 liters of oxygen and had to sit down 5 times in the wheel chair to catch my breath.

I'm not yet running like Roger Daltrey in the video but that's how I felt when I first walked again. :)

I also like 'good' music. I have often said that, if there is a heaven, the angels will not have harps but will have electric guitars and play them 'dirty'!

I don't want to find out just yet but when the time comes I hope your right. If they'll let me in I'll hope they'll be playing something like Smoke on the Water. :)

Afraid we differ in musical taste though my i pod has accompanying music for my daily efforts towards the best I can be using any means at hand. Anything is far better than nothing with exercise start slowly and above all enjoy the results which keep us coming back for years to come.

I like all sorts of music S&S but I find Rock and Dance music works best to exercise too. The key is to exercise and try and make it fun.

Tony - you did good :) So happy you have recovered your legs and are making good use of them :)

I remember going to see the movie Tommy and can imagine how you can relate to it.

Be Free and soar like an Eagle ;)

Have a great weekend one and all.

Once I got my legs back, it was down to the lungs to keep up and that's still the problem 3 1/2 years on but slowly their improving. One day I will run again but for today a little stroll on the treadmill will do eh'

I've come a long way from those months in ICU when I was as helpless as a baby with no strength and unable to communicate so that song from Tommy and Roger Daltreys energy does it for me. :)

Thanks BC.

Is this mans other name 'Super Man' because those treadmills weigh a ton. This is great news Stitch but take it very easy to start with. At least you can go for a stroll now whatever the weather is trowing at you and get fit for the summer ahead. :)

Whew just did my daily 30 mins but this time made it a little bit tougher. Threw in a few inclines trying to simulate my housing estate walk to the top of the road. When I'm ready and the weather is kinder to me I'll have a crack at a new record time but for now its Rock till ya drop. I eased the pain this time with The Foo Fighters Greatest Hits and it worked a treat. :)

How did you get on?

Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Richie Blackmore, Dave Gilmour, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton,

Ronnie Wood, Joe Satriani, Pete Townshend + of course Hendrix as number one

Love em' all Lakeland. You've helped with my next choice of treadmill music, Santana's greatest hits to ease the very worthwhile pain and suffering.
