Hi just saw your post and have read thru' all, mainly 'cos you mentioned Bristol. I live in Bristol but almost no experience of this hospital. Parking will be difficult and expensive for visitors ...... there are some hospital buses (free?) which possibly link up with Temple Meads Station.

Re 27th Jan ...... well January begins in 17hours and then before the month is out you will have so much sorted out with your op. For me also any procedure is terrifying and folk who don't find it so can't really 'get' just how bad we feel ...... so big hugs etc. January can be a tricky month for anyone, however the days are beginning to get longer, try a walk or just step into your garden and notice each day how the signs of Spring are revealing themselves more and more, or just buy a bowl of bulbs from the supermarket and enjoy the scent.

Another benefit of January is that it is the marmalade making season. Why not make some of your own and take a jar to hospital with you to enjoy on the (probably crappy toast). It's quite easy to make; Seville oranges are the key and they're only available until the end of the month. Get in touch if you want.

Amongst the many autoimmune diseases I have is hypothyroidism (5yrs) so I take Levothyroxine 125mg each day ...... must take NOT with food/drink so for me when the alarm goes take the tabs, then bathroom, empty the dishwasher, make the tea, back to bed (as now) and when it's cool enough about 30 mins have elapsed so OK. It might take a while to get levels right. After Coeliac diagnosed (18 months) my dose was refused from 175mg. Also all aches in joints went when got my calcium and Vit D levels ok...... got drs to test and followed their advice.

All the very best Maggie Bristol.... keep in touch if you want.

Hi sue not sure but did you mean to post this in thyroid support community.

I do have a lung condition but have no experience with goitre.

Hi Sue, I wish you all the best for your op on 27th January.

I'm wondering if you have asthma, stress and worry can on coughing and shortness of breath.

If I were you I would deffo ring the BLF helpline today before the New Year holiday and wkend. 03000 030 555. Office hours and cost of a local call. They can help with advice on breathing and SOB and may know of connection to your thyroid condition.

If you have asthma then it needs to be under control for your op and recovery.

You're right to be looking for answers before the op.

God luck, please ring them today. Peeg

Hi sued007, welcome sorry I am confused like others but felt maybe you have come through to the wrong site as most on here have lung conditions. Know a little about the Thyroid as my late husband had an operation but not a goitre and took thyroxin. I would try the healthunlocked thyroid site forum if I was you, good luck with finding answers.
