Hi, I used Symbicort 200 for around 10 years and Symbicort 400 for the past 4, but have never suffered any side effects (also use Spiriva without side effects). Have a look at the patient info leaflet that comes with the inhaler or here:-

If you are worried about your symptoms see your gp as there are alternative inhalers you could be prescribed. Libby x

Hi, I took Symbicort 200, then upped to 2 puffs, now Symbicort 400 - also take spiriva.

The only side effects were to my voice. I rinsed and gargled but did not realise that I had to use water and swallow it as the powder can stick to all wet surfaces.

One thing I do find is that any minor cold or ear/throat issues seems to get exaggerated, so I echo that keeping in touch with GP or breathing nurse is good

I've been on Symbicort and Spiriva since getting out of the hospital a year and a half ago; also am on oxygen a few hours at night, down from 24/7 at first. I still get breathless but that's hard to tell whether it's from being physically out of shape or the COPD. I suspect it's from the former.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any negative side effects except occasional touch of lightheadedness and Lord knows what that's caused by. Nothing serious, though and am cutting my Symbicort inhales from twice two times a day to twice, once per day. It's the dead of Winter here so it's dank, dreary, chilly, rainy and windy..., not the kind of weather for a nice brisk walk. Later for that.

Hi Brooke,

I take Symbicort 200 (2 doses twice a day) & have done for a few years. When i first started taking it I did have a few dizzy spells but i am not sure if this was caused by the inhaler as I had been quite ill prior to starting it. The only side effect I get from it now is having a dry mouth & My voice is a bit hoarse in the mornings. I would mention it to your GP or nurse. Hope this helps
