What kind of pain is it? Does it hurt all the time, or just when you press on the area? I ask, because I just wondered if it could be Costochondritis. Inflammation of the join between the ribs and the sternum. I'm probably way off beam with this, it was just a thought.

I can feel it when I stretch or breathe deeply,or lie down,a locum doctor thought it might be inflammation that's why he gave me the naproxen,it does mask the pain,it's only a niggly pain, but it still should not be there after a month.

It's so scary when you have a pain and nobody can pinpoint what it is. I do hope you get an answer soon Sooki. xx

I have IPF and also suffer pain on my right side and have done for some time now. I have never mentioned it to the Doctor because I have had scans and xrays but nothing has ever been said about anything other than my IPF although I have Asthma as well .My pain is like burning and when I touch the place just under the breast its red hot. I cant have antiflammitres due to an ulcer so I use Traxam gel and take Paracetamol it seems to help for a while but then flare up without warning' I know what you mean though when you say about this scary disease I feel the same way '

Cute dogs Sooki, are they yours and what are they?

I'm afraid I can't help with the pain, especially if you've seen the doc. It's worrying isn't it.

I've also had pain in my right side, behind front, lower ribs, for a few weeks. I'm presuming it a recurrence of the pleurisy I've had there in the past. Previously it was excruciating and treated with antibiotics and each time it preceded pneumonia & more antibiotics but this time it's just a niggle.

I too have had an ulcer + asthma so cannot take Ibuprofen. Blooming annoying all round so I sympathise. If I didn't think mine was pleurisy I'd be worried too..

Happy Sunday Sooki, Peeg xx

Hi,peg, yes they are my dogs, they are shorkies, shitzu mum, yorkie dad. They are brother and sister, coming up 4 years old, little girl is called Tia,and she is a diva, knows how to use her eyes to get what she wants, little boy is Obi and he is a wimp,we love them to bits,.Yep I am fed up with this disease,I am now on pirfenidone ,but very afraid how this disease progresses, was so positive in the summer, walking everywhere, and now a few months later needing ambulatory oxygen and this stupid niggle in my side, have had a stairlift fitted, try not to use it all the time,my mum had IPF but was 80 when diagnosed, and did not actually die from IPF.I am 63 and wanted at least another 20 years myself. My dad died from lung cancer at 67 And my sister at 67 has very bad CoPD,anti typtrin deficient, and I am partial anti typtrin deficient,as a family we haven't got a lot going in our favour. As regards chest problems.Sorry I have gone on a bit,is that a picture of your doggie.(Linda).

I'm sorry to hear all that regarding your health. I'm just learning about the best ways to stay well particularly through the winter months.

I can see how worrying, distressing and scary this is for your whole family.

Yes that's Fred, my chocolate Lab. He'll be 8 next March. I sort of rescued him from an unsavoury life when he was 7 months old. Getting white around his chin, moults for England - 8 months of the year grrrrr, drives me nuts but wouldn't be without him. He's a large breed so I keep him slim and as light as possible (wish I could have that discipline for myself)!

All good wishes to you Linda xxP

Hi, I too suffer from IPF and pain on the left side of my chest. Whilst I was on the lung transplant list I mentioned it and had all sorts of tests, mainly on my heart, and there was no explanation for it. So with that I have put it to the back of my mind and try to ignore it. But it's worth giting it checked out, you never know. Good luck.

I have a pain when I breath deeply since my severe chest infection in 2008 My specialist explained that because of the infection and scaring I have exposed nerves and it is only pain relief he can do to help :(
