Those of you on Mucodyne, what is the maximum dose you can take. I have 2 in morning and 2 in evening

but they don't seem to be making much difference. Drinking lots of water doesn't either. I also have Sjogren's, which dries everything up. Could this be the reason the pills aren't making much difference?

I have one 3 times a day. Not always as I sometimes miss one. They seem to work for me.

I take mine 2x3 times a day,,,maybe you need the liquid form as capsules don,t work for everyone,, xx

They take some time to work I believe, not instant or 48 hours like antiBs.

You are taking the maintenance dose, some of us do and then when un well bump it up to 2 capsules, 3 times a day so that it will work quickly.

The above info I was given by an excellent respiratory nurse (they aren't all excellent) who insisted that taking 1 at a time is useless. What does the leaflet say?

I upped mine 2 days ago and they're working already so hopefully I will shake off an infection that I think is brewing. ... but then I dont have Sjogrens . Peeg

Just re-reading your post,,if your on Sjogrens to dry your mucas up, why then did they give you Mucadyne if you have nothing loose in your lungs,,?

Chrissie, Sjogren's Syndrome is an autoimmune condition which dries up your body. It affects tear glands, and salivary glands among others. It isn't medicine. I've been using Mucodyne for about 3 years now.

Hi I take 2x2 a day, all I can say is I was told that they mite take a long time to show the benefits it took me about 4 months to start to take affect, hope this helps

we were told by our consultant that the maximum dosage is 2 x 3 times daily which is what hubby has and has done for about 3 years now

Hi poemsgalore... since I was diagnosed this year i have also been taking 2 x 3 daily. They work well for me and apart from just giving myself a couple of days rest I wouldn't be without them now. Just to make you smile... my parrot keeps clearing his throat so it sounds like he's taking them as well

What type of parrot do you have? A friend of mine had an African Grey. They are so intelligent.

My parrot is an African Grey as well. I've had him fourteen years and his knowledge of the spoken word is second to none. They pick up everything. When I watch a good movie he never shuts up.. if i'm watching say x factor he will start clapping. Ask him to get back in his cage and he will say NO! He also sings , dances, whistles and if you don't want to answer the door he always shouts ' just a minute' You can't eat anything without giving him a bit or he will bang on the cage relentlessly and he gets upset when the grandchildren have to go. Bless him

Hi poemsgalore a little late with this reply, but muscodyne, I was told by specialist will really help with thickness of sputum or not. It is definitely one or other. Helps me, 2 three times a day.One thing I do remember to take. If not, I cannot even get the mess down the plughole. Ugh! Love KatieJJ

When I was in hospital almost two years ago I was given Mucoydne, (2 three times a day.)

My consultant changed that to 1 four times a day on discharge and I've been on that dose ever since.

I really can't see any difference it has made to my illness as I don't cough up anything at all. I do get a very runny nose at times but my consultant says I need to keep taking the Mucoydne. With lots of liquid of course, which makes me run to the loo a lot!

So all that is as clear as mud, I think!!

P.S. Just remembered! I do get a froggy throat so maybe that is why I'm on them.
