Hi longlungs, I am very optimistic about the group and will keep you updated about it as I progress!

I am really looking forward to my first PR, week tomorrow at North Herts Leisure centre at Letchworth. I have waited long enough, and have questions to ask.

Glad it went well for you. I would certainly recommend PR to anyone with COPD. It made a world of difference to me. :-)

Best wishes

Jo

Really please to hear - my husband is nearer the end of his second course and it has made a considerable difference. Good luck TAD xx

How do I get to join a pr group?

Hi

By referral and assessment ,

Mine was by my Consultant, having been referred to by my GP.

Any of your medics can refer you - GP, consultant, nurse. Just ask. Then ask again! xx

My husband asked his doctor three years ago and told "not bad enough!" even though at moderate/severe stage. But I found that we had a specialist respiratory team which I asked him to be referred to by the practise nurse. The Respiratory team visited us at home and immediately referred him. In our area you can only go on the course once every two years but after the first course you can refer yourself. Good Luck TAD xx

Starting on Tuesday , just hoping it is worth the journey, although if bad weather or windy, will have to give it a miss. 2 buses and bus stop a bit away, how do they think non drivers can manage that? If you have breathing, walking probs. Glad everyone enjoying it!!

exactomondo Lorraine i dont drive either i have been fortunate to get a scooter now i hadnt been out for two years my life has opened up instantly.perhaps when you get there maybe you will find somebody who is going your way and try and connect up im told that the people are very friendly at these places.also iwas told by nurse in my area south london /kent that when weather awful they cancel that session add it on at the end so you dont miss out, this year was the first time theyve had to cancel in the summer for being too bloody hot!Janexxx

I don`t know about other parts of the country but in this area transport is provided for people without any. I`m into my 6th week now and do not have a car and the bus stop is too far a walk for me so I wouldn`t have been able to go otherwise. I`m really enjoying the course and its very beneficial.

Glad you enjoying the scooter, will maybe meet a tall handsome driver!! Will just have to grin and bear it! Just being a wimp! Think only 6 in group I was told. and the turn out poor being the nature of breathing difficulties, lucky I am better than I was, cant stay at home forever!

Thanks for all your support everyone, I am a non driver too but luckily a bus journey drops me almost outside of the gym where it is being held. Will keep you all updated where I can.
