Just had Pleurisy in my chest, I think you can have it in other places as well it could be that scars.

Only time I had pain like that scars was with pneumonia and pleurisy. Best get it checked out.

I would suggest you go to the doctor - could be an infection? Take care TAD x x

I agree with the others, whenever I've got an infection I get pain in my back or ribs at the front. Do you have emergency AB's and steroids.

no, only my usual two inhalers.

See your GP ASAP, might not be anything but best to make sure, might be worth asking about emergency AB's and steroids, I have community respiratory team that come out to me because I did Pulmonary Rehab.

It's worth getting it checked out, but I get that and it's the intercostal muscles tightening up if you are not expanding your lungs fully. I do some exercises given to me that get rid of it, and help prevent it.

Get your GP to listen to your chest, if it's pleurisy they can tell with the stethoscope. It's very painful indeed, a severe stabbing pain on breathing or moving. Good luck

I've had pleurisy in the past, doesn't feel the same.

I agree best to get this checked out Scars, if it is anything that can be treated the sooner you get treatment the better I think. You could do more harm by delaying seeing your doc.

Take good care BC

got a hospital appointment on the 23rd, might wait till then cos my doc is no better than useless about copd. Nurse there did a spirimetry test and said i had perfectly normal lung function..was utter rubbish of course.

All good wishes for 23rd, I'll be keeping fingers crossed for you.

Change your Doctor. Are you in a Breathe Easy Group, talk to other members and ask about their doctor and make an informed choice. Good Luck. I get pain in my left side but I think it's muscular, I'm waiting to go to Pulmonary Rehab so maybe I'll get some answers.

no breathe easy group, no pulonary rehab, no nothing. It took four monthly phone calls to get the hospital appointment.

You really are not getting the treatment you deserve. Please think seriously about changing your doctor. Ring the BLF helpline, to get some support. Are you not a member of a Breathe Easy Group because there isn't one in your area? I know all this may sound exhausting but it is for your own good and you may reap lots of benefits. Take care.

Obviously Scars I don't know where you live but you must be on the British Lung Foundation site to be on HealthUnlocked so click on the appropriate site and check if there is a Breathe Easy Group near you or ring the BLF. Hope this helps.

I agree best to get it checked, although i dont have plueracy i had similar pain to what you describe and it turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. I had been putting it down to indigestion as i get that a lot too! Can,t be too careful scars.

Hi Scars, I have Severe Emphysema and live with chest pains that are centered around the sternum as a part of daily life. I have had chest xrays, ultrasound and an Angiogram but have been told that my heart is fine and the pains must be musco/skeletal due to the muscles of my chest working harder.

However saying that, I would definitely see your Doctor or Consultant as soon as you can.Good luck and hope that it's something that can be quickly sorted!

Hi Scars I got the flu in May and ever since I have had this pain in my left side I had all the usual meds but i'm left with this cramp like pain. I do wonder if you are under the same hospital trust as me they are about as much use as a ash tray on a motor bike good luck
