What a lovely photo, Bliss. I was married in 1958. I love looking at photos taken years ago. And in b/w. Think that there must have a lot of changes in the neighbourhood where the Church was.

Congratulations! I hope you have had a lovely day. We celebrated our Golden anniversary last month. Like you, our photos are black and white - my sons used to giggle about that. Nevertheless your photo is lovely - but you both look so young! I was just 19 and my husband 21 when we got married and it wasn't that unusual. Luckily we had some years on our own which helped us to grow up and save a bit - eldest born when I was 24. I always think we were lucky to grow up together - developed similar attitudes and value system, because it could have gone disasterously wrong if we hadn't.
I don't know about you but we didn't have a great deal of 'stuff' when we got married - we did have a new 3 piece suite, and bed. Our other bedroom furniture was mine from home. I had a fridge for my 21st, which certainly wasn't glamorous but it did stop me having to shop every day on my way home from work! Not sure that young couples today would be satisfied with that - seem to feel they have to have everywhere fully furnished before they start out.

congrats on your 50th anniversary. my brother's 50th is coming up on February and your picture made me think of it. I was one of the bridesmaids. I am hoping I will be well enough for the party they are arranging, the other bridesmaid is dead now so it would be nice to be there. I was sweet sixteen at the time. Your picture is lovely! M

this coming Thursday. Married in 1953, Registry
Office,very austere time,( some foods rationed still.)
We `ve had our card from the Queen, not opened yet!
