Confused is it safe to take qvar and fostair inhalers together the asthma nurse says one thing and the doc another both got steriods in

drugs.com have a compatibility search on their site, you just put in the name of the med and it will tell you if there are warnings or dangers. The alternative would be to check with your consultant or the BLF helpline for further guidance on this.

Qvar is beclomethasone, either 50 or 100 mcg per dose.
Fostair is 100 mcg of beclometasone and 6 mcg of formoterol per dose.
So it must be safe to use them alternately, but not at the same time, of course, or you'd be double-dosing on beclometasone,
But why not switch entirely to Fostair, as that may be regarded as 'Qvar Plus' ?
Thanks the asthma nurse took me off qvar and put me on fostair about 3 months ago, the dr last week said I needed to go back on qvar as well as continent using fostair, as he said fostair doesnot contain steroids.

One thing I learned about inhalers , is that not all inhalers contain all of the drugs you need hence the need for two or more of a similar drug.
Your GP will be more aware of this and unlikely to mislead you or put you in any harm.
