Hi Itchy
Welcome
regarding holidays , think it depends on how serious your COPD or similar is, what medications you are etc.... do you mean holidays abroad etc?
I think giving the BLF helpline a ding on Monday will probably be your best bet
Hope you find a good spot
Beth
Hi Ichyfeet,
Welcome to the site.
What do you like to do on holiday?
hi itchyfeet,u give little info.how bad is your copd regards holidays abroad,im moderate went to Portugal 4month ago was fine ,
Welcome, Itchy, I have had many hols in the past, all enjoyable but getting there can be arduous. For sheer peace and quiet, if you want it like that, I would recommend Isle of Man, Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands. I have always found the air is refreshing.
All the best from Annieseed x
Hi ichefeet, welcome to the site it all depends on how bad your COPD is at the moment I'm still going abroad for my hols lol xx
hello itchyfeet, a very warm welcome to the site.
I've mild (I hope).
Last year I went to see my son in the South of France 4 times & swam in the Med in January Feb & March, a wedding in Kracow, a road trip in Eastern Spain (with 2 broken feet so had to endure my friends driving), 3 sailing trips around the Med including long overnight sails & doing the night watches. (I liked writing that down because this year I'm broke and haven't been anywhere at all bar 2 days in Suffolk at my sisters).
It was a doddle but then I'm better in heat & sunshine. Luckily one infection in July didnt last too long (but the horific one in October lasted through to begninning of March) so couldnt work.
Last year I bought a little tent with the intention of doing little road trips with my dog & camping. I still would like to.
This morning on Radio 4 a lady was talking about cycling around all of Suffolk (nice & flat) which is another idea.
A couple of friends have just had a cycling holiday in Holland...................
There are plenty of wheelchair adapted holiday lets here and in Europe
It would depend on your needs and ability, what you like to do, can you stand heat, how adventurous you are, how well off you are ........ if you find something have a wonderful time, best regards, peeg
thanks for all your replies. Can't believe the came so quickly. I'm sure this site is going to be very helpful x
Hi and welcome ichyfeet !
Hi Itchyfeet.
Sorry I can't help with the holiday suggestions and I'm fairly new to posting on this great site with it's wonderful people mysel, but I would just like to say welcome.
Casper.
Hi itchyfeet, welcome. Sorry, can't help with holidays. Last one I had must have been 23 years ago. Hope you find somwhere suitable and have a relaxing break. Alison
Hi ichyfeet, I have COPD and travel regularly. Luggage is a problem but my wife helps me. It really depends on your condition. Ultimately it is down to whether you are able to say fly and your COPD expert agrees. It might affect your insurance, mine has not changed. Good luck Adrian
thank you all for your welcome messages and your positve comments . Sorry if my question seemed trivial but I've never joined a group like this and was at a bit of a loss on how to start. Reading your questions and answers has helped me a lot . I was diagnosed with copd a year ago . I haven't found my medical care that helpful apart from support in giving up smoking .So can anyone tell me if the following symptoms are common with copd suffers.
swollen ankles.....panic attacks when walking, especially when walking in company....weight gain
I use a ventolin inhaler and have been using a seretide inhaler for a month. best wishes to all and i hope you're having a good day x
