BOTTLED IT.!!!

I Never thought this would happen to me in this country, The weather got so hot whilst we were on our way down to Cropredy ,Banbury and Oxford on the boat, that we had to cry off and make our way home. I still havn't got my breathing back to pre heatwave. Have made an appointment to see the respiratory nurse in the morning, I am dreading doing the lung function test, last time my reading was 30%, whatever that means. Its about time I got some one to explain to me the nature and severity of my disease, as no one to this day has ever sat me down and told me about my exact form of COPD. I will let you know how it goes, bye for now.

Hi canalchris, that heatwave was awful, it affected a lot of people, me included, I was out of it for about 7 days it took 4 days of cooler temperatures before I started to recover and my lungs are only just coming right now that is over 2 weeks ago.

It's a pity it spoiled your time away.

I hope your lungs will recover soon and your lung function test is ok.

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Oh dear I'm sorry it came to this Chris, to end your precious boating Good luck with the nurse & tests.

Also, good luck with getting a complete diagnosis, I think we deserve that at the very least. Peeg

Sorry to hear your messing about on the water came to an abrupt end. I don't know the severity of my COPD other than I get bad days and I get good days. I am always told what my COPD condition is but it goes in one ear and out the other. I have many things wrong with me but as long as I awake in the morning then I feel life is not all bad

That's a lovely post king, I knew someone who was in his 80's at the time and he would always say 'great I've been given another day' in the morning, would love to be that positive and live in the moment like that x

I dont know where my condition is at but told I am on the best meds.and because I gave up smoking 3 years ago and have daily walkabouts it wont get any worse. That will do me for now. Cant change anything so why dwell on numbers? Lots of respect for those of you in a worse condition who still help and encourage anyone who needs it. Joyce

I do know where mine is and what it is, but it's all relative. I think as long as I do everything I can to stop it getting worse, then I can do no more. I hope you feel better soon Chris and can get back on that boat.

Sometimes I think "ignorance is bliss" My lungs have been really bad for years, I have sarcoid, bronchiectasis, PF, and aspergillus. For years I would go for my check ups and never think to ask just what my lung function was or just how bad my lungs were. Nowadays the young doctors tell me all this, even though I never asked, and I think I was happier just jogging along in my ignorance. M

We had the same problem Chris had to leave the boat and come home. The heat was overwhelming. We were on the Staffs & Worcs no shade anywhere. Hope you feel better soon.xx
