Hi there Samgoh. Can you give us a bit more information on mum's illness. COPD or whatever. We can probably give you some better answers then.

Hi Samgoh

If mum has already had a chest wall tube insertion I think you need to talk to the BLF nurses. They are very experienced in these things. BlakeyC has given you the number above. Failing that I would get mum to go back to her own doctor. Fluid build up is best not left for long without further treatment. Good luck with mum.

Please don't just worry about draining the fluid In your mum's Lungs Yes there is a reason that the fluid is in there. That is what you need to find out my love. My wife as gone down with stage 4 heart failure no nothing to do with your mum however I did learn so much on fluids because of keeping it away from Ann.

I was informed that the heart yes our Pump collects the 02 from our lungs and mixes it with our Blood. The Heart then pumps the blood to where it should go. However if for some reason the heart is unable to pump all the blood around. It then returns the access back to the lungs as fluid. Then it spreads to other places like feet, ankles and legs. Please get your Mum checked before there is any chance of her getting like my Ann. I hope this as helped you my young friend. Yes Ann is on Furosemide, plus others to rid her of the water. xx
