Hello Carrie

My husband told me to have a look at this article online. It was really informative.

It's amazing how many people are misdiagnosed although I think it must be very difficult for the Doctors and Nurses.

I had to admit that sometimes when I try to explain something to my GP I find that I am talking absolute tosh. I'm so lucky with my GP - he does listen to my moans and then sorts me out. He's been 100% right so far. I'm so pleased that he is younger than me (hopefully, he will see me out).

Love and hugs

I'm the same. Our GP practice is wonderful. They seem to treat and care about the whole you, not just the thing you're there for at the time. I sometimes feel like a hypochondriac especially when talking about the tiredness or fatigue, or when I'm not sure if I have an infection or not, but they've always reassured me and done their best to find out what's going on.

Interesting article Carrie, thanks for posting.

I think that doctor should have known it wasn't just asthma though, I do think referral to a respiratory consultant is the best way to get an accurate diagnosis.

Sounds like you have a good doctor though Carrie, that's good to know.

Good wishes

That was a very good description of COPD from the patients point of view, thanks for the link. I hear many stories similar to this, including my own experience. Yet approach to diagnosing these illnesses still seems to be very hit and miss.

Thanks CarrieMe, I think anything that raises the public's awareness of COPD cannot be a bad thing, although to see the mortality rates in a newspaper is a bit scary, even though I knew them already, strange ! .......Adrian

in reply to beatles

Hi Beatles, They never tell you the details behind the statistics though, ie how old were they all when they died and how long had they lived with it beforehand? If I l die at 85 and they want to put COPD on the death certificate, that'll do me! :-)
