Why no O2 supplier in the Channel Islands?

Having just recovered from a particularly virulent and very persistent chest infection we thought we might try and get away for a while. We both fancied the Channel Islands as I could make it by ferry (cant fly any more) with my liquid O2 supply but apparently there are no arrangements in the Islands for a supply. Surely it's still the UK I don't understand it.

The Channel Islands are not part of the United Kingdom. They are dependent territories of the English. Can you not use/hire a portable oxygen concentrator?

Hi Toci, I cant find a portable concentrator that will give 4lm 24 hours a day. As for hire I have been quoted some ridiculous prices in the past so don't bother looking anymore.

There are several portable concentrators which go up to 5lpm. I use 1.5 to 3 depending on level of effort being expended and have bought a portable with two sets of batteries. This means I can use one set whilst the other is charging and use it overnight connected to the mains. (I can recommend Smile as a supplier.) I suppose it depends how important holidays are to you - they are vital to me and I will always find a way! Good luck. x

To I, are you sure you get 5 litres using a portable concentrator? Mine went up to setting 5 which is NOT 5 litres. This was why I had to revert to cylinders again.

Yes I had an Airsip Freestyle whit 2 battery belts which did allow me some freedom for a while. Unfortunately it did have it's limitations, not able to run 24 hours, and would only give me 3lpm I can just about get about with 4lpm but not 3. I have yet to find a portable unit that gives 4lpm for 24 hours a day.

Have a look at the Sequel Eclipse 3. I am not an expert but I think this is the closest you will get to what you need. Just have a look on the web. There are a number of companies who will rent too.

Found this for you, I don't know it's of any use, did you mean on prescription as I imagine you'd have to pay. Libby

Hi Baldie

The Channel Islands are considered the remnants of the Duchy of Normandy and they are not part of the UK. I think, however, that they are a dependency of the British Crown.

Whatever they are, the Channel Islands are beautiful and I should love to live there. I have a friend who was born there and he left to live in Spain! I love Spain but I think that I would prefer to live in the Channel Islands.

If you go, I hope that you have a wonderful time.

Love and hugs

I SUSPECT THIS IS THE SAME REASON YOU CANT HAVE LIQUID OXYGEN ON THE ILE OF WIGHT.

THE FERRY COMPANIES WILL NOT AGREE TO SHIP IT

YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY BOTTLES AS YOU LIKE BUT NO LIQUID OXYGEN

CHECK WITH YOU OXYGEN SUPPLIER
