Morning, I'm sorry I can't help. Only to say that if I was looking for one my first stop would be Amazon where I could check out the reviews which I always find to be very useful in weeding out the dud and picking a good one.

Next stop would probably be EBay to find a good second hand one. Good luck. P

Will be interested to read replies as I am on the hunt too, twinks. I have sussed out so far that the cheaper end ones tend to be fixed on an incline which would put me off initially using it (I know myself so well!). :) xx

Just to say that I've looked into pulse rate monitors. They are cheap and worked well for me when given a gym prescription from my GP.Not sure if its still done. The aim is to not go flat out, but sustain a raised pulse rate for a period of time. At the time it was 130 for 20minutes. This is where advice would be helpful. Should say that I feel for you as our profiles look similar. Best of luck.

Not sure if figures are right. Disclaimer! Just remember band around chest and watch. Tbh I got bored with the gym but enjoy the walks plus when younger was very into dance. Bit like Jonesy from Dads Army now in that I'm always a step behind Think he slow reflexs may be thyroid related. Also v slow on saxophone.

For reflex read reaction speed

I had a good look around before I got one, and came up with one that is really basic. (After all I am not an elite athlete) No electric incline etc.(Who wants to walk up hill) Some go up to 22 degrees, my god that would be like walking up your roof !!. Small motor (economy) has all the information on screen IE: distance, speed, time, calories burned, heart beat monitor. Has adjustable speeds variable by 1 km/h. Is a compact model so I've got it in the lounge so I can watch TV or movies to pass the time. Mine goes up 12 Km/h.(As if) I got one that is sturdy and had a good warranty on the motor. (important)

Got it for around $200 Aussie. Hope this helps. Keith :)

boiler hello,

Its called an Inspiration Pursuit Treadmill. It cost me $260 as a special.

As you can see Its not a brand name, but as I said I'm not an elite athlete, so its all horses for courses.

Thank you Keith49

Just a quick foot note.

Getting the treadmill really was a game changer for my breathing.

It dosen't matter what the weather you can still walk.

And because it's in the lounge I can't sit for too long without looking at it and getting a guilt attack.

I started out at 3Km/h for ten minute walks and built it up to 5Km/h for 30 Mins. Keith

:)

Many thanks for your replies. Your treadmill sounds ideal Keith and I will have a good look around. Hi Lilliput, what does gym prescription entail? I see our FEV is similar. Have you been given inhalers?

I just finished 7 day course of Prednisolone 5mg as was breathless. They haven't helped and unsure what to do next. GP did not give me antibiotics as said chest was clear. Breathless while sitting down and don't feel Salbutamol is doing any good.

Hi twinks,

I also did the 7 day course of prednisolone 5mg, and as the doc said he didn't expect any change.

I think its to test for reactions, I didn't get any, so he put me on prednisolone 25mg for 10 days, which works like anything. Don't want to get off them. After the 10 days I go down to 1/2 a tab. for 5 days to ween off them . Bummer. keith :)

Hi Keith, I finished prednisolone 5mg ( 7 day course ) 2 days ago and still breathless. But today I feel loads better. Even managed to get sleep last night.

I am so keen to start exercises and can you give me make and model of your treadmill please and I will google it? Hope you are still breathing easier. Take care
