Am sitting here puffing on my brand new e-cig. Debating whether to use it to try and stop smoking immediately or work up to it gradually.

Maybe its best to use it to cut down at first. Can't decide! It is pretty good though. Have to make decision soon as got no baccy and shop closes at 11. And have I got 3.50 lol

What do you all think?

Give it a go Bev, anything's worth a try. My son's had two separate goes with them of a couple of months each but ended up back on the cigs. He's now back on Champix for the 3rd time, can't say he isn't trying! Is yours a refillable one where you can keep reducing the amount if nicotine, these would seem to me to be the best as you can slowly get rid of the nicotine addiction. Libby x

I tried with an E, cig Bev, but found it made my chest worse, I,ll try again soon though, just maybe get a different flavor or strength, If you thing you can do it try sticking with the E,cig, but if its really tough, just get 10 in for those moments when only a real one will do, eventually you will do it & we,ll all be here supporting you

Good luck which ever way you go hun

Thanks for your replies Karen and Libby. I have not had many fags today and am definitely coughing a lot less already. Excuse me - puff puff phew. Back.

Mine is a refillable one but I don't think its a reducing one - its not that posh or expensive! Had a choice of loads of flavours so chose baccy flavour. Thought it might help. Puff puff. Hope your son succeeds Libby. Wish him all the best from me please.

I know will get loads of support here from all of you and its much appreciated. Puff puff. Oh dear

Made decision - not going to shop...well its dark now. The bogie man is out. Lol

Bev, proceed straight to the daft-as-a-brush corner. Do not pass go, do not collect £200. Stay in the corner till the man in the little yellow van comes for you.

Hiya Bev.

Two years ago I went from 40 a day to E-cigarettes overnight. I haven't had one "proper" cigarette in that two years. At 70 I am not too interested in giving up completely. The E-cigarettes are very good, cheaper too.

Wow Bobby am very impressed with that! Well done.

Mmm wonder if I can get choccy flavoured taste? Shushhh don't mention that to scrobbs or Sandra.....they would mug me for my e-cig. Lol

Some of the flavours are lovely, never smoked one but they smell good. Son never like the tobacco one, he even used to make his own mixes of flavours. I used the lozenges and gave up fully within a week, maybe you could alternate the ecigs with lozenges or gum ANYTHING is worth a try. I'd tried for donkey's years to give up yet that last time was so easy, but there again I was pretty desperate! It was amazing how much better I felt in a very short time. Libby x

I have been using one for 12mths now never touched a cig in all that time, did crave for a normal cig for awhile but did not give in to the urge, go for it and good luck.

im getting confused with these e cigs, mine looks like a real cig, charge it up and replace tip" , got tobacco and menthol flavours, keep trying with it , found it really helpful in hotel room and as day patient in hospital, but....have seen people with long black pipes type thing, think they put fluid of some sort in, what are these and are they any better, have tried and stopped with champix , but idiot i am started again, would love to know xxxx

Hi I have got one which you buy liquid separately for 2.50 a bottle and just fill it up every so often. It is tobacco flavour and its pretty good. Helps a lot with the cravings. Haven't given up yet but am cutting down quite a bit. Still working on the giving up bit! :)

It would be interesting to talk to nowheeze. She made such a success of cold turkey, but there are so many ways of giving up smoking. Whatever works for you. Thinking about Pamela, she was on the way to give up smoking. Gave up smoking 18 years ago and never been sorry. But I can be hit occasionally by the odd crave, but it disappears before it bothers me. Just don't fancy smoke in my lungs and if DR. G found out ----.
