I care for my husband whose was diagnosed with COPD 10wks ago. Since then its been a roller coaster of a ride, three visits to A&E and two hospital stays. He as been on what they call hospital at home rest with COPD nurses visiting sometime once a day or every couple of days for periods of two weeks at a time. The problem seems to be each time he attends hospital as an emergency they give him steroids he his fine when on them however within the 48hrs of the course finishing he cant breathe and needs to go back. It breaks my heart to see him suffering and having these set backs. I have been out of my mind, they cant seem to get him stabilised on meds. I have learned so much and taken comfort from this forum, and also had little titters from your humour comments. Thank you all.

Glad you found some information, support and humour when you needed it fronzoni. Let's hope the medical lot get their act together and get your husband onto an even keel. The BLF Helpline is always a great place to get specific information if you need it. Or throw out a general question or blog and someone will come along and help to the best of their ability. :) xx

Hello Fronzoni

I'm so sorry that you are having such an awful time at the moment because your poor husband is really unwell.

Hopefully, the medical profession will, soon, sort out the medication he needs.

Everyone here will be helpful to you. They have been wonderful with me.

Look after yourself as well as your husband.

Lots of love and hugs

Thank you for your kind warm wishes. He is only 58yrs young and was a heavy smoker, but also worked in dusty environments for many years, which cant have helped. xx

Hi Fronzoni. It often takes a while to get someone stable on the various medicines. They will get it right soon. I am afraid a lot of it is trial and error because everyone is different. I wish hubby well and don't forget to look after yourself too.

Take care Fronzoni.

Hi there and welcome, I'm a novice but I can't help thinking it would be so much better if they could taper off the steroids. Do call the helpline, they can point out some questions to ask his medics. P
