Visit to asthma nurse tomorrow.

I am visiting the asthma nurse tomorrow and will ask about a rescue pack at home. She usually just asks about my peak flow and that is it. Do you think I should be asking her about anything else given that my asthma has now landed me in A + E for the first time and I have more or less constant SOB now. I dont have COPD according to the GP it is just the asthma getting worse. I am on Symbicort and Bricanyl inhalers.

Why not give the BLF Helpline a quick buzz - I am sure they will be able to help give advice about further information you may need from the asthma nurse. Their number, if you don't already have it is 03000 030 555

Good luck with your visit tomorrow Bealings, I think its a good idea to ask about the rescue pack to have at home, mention about the A&E and the constant SOB, I think the asthma nurse may go along with what the GP says though, but I think if I were you I would ask the GP for a referral to a respiratory consultant especially if you are finding you a having repeated lung infections and constant SOB, chronic asthma can result in COPD, I've known others have this happen, of course it doesn't happen in every case but it can in some cases.

As scrobbitty suggests check with the helpline about what other suggestions to ask the asthma nurse. I think the asthma nurse should be able to offer you a spirometry test and this may be something that will open the door for a more accurate diagnosis for you.

Let us know how you get on.

Take good care and so sorry you landed in A+E

Well I went - peak flow 275, SOB - yes I know all that - could I have anything else to help, or go to see the consultant - ummmm well I would like you to see the dr in 2 weeks. Maybe by then you will have stabilised to where you were. Thanks a bunch - so helpful. !!!!!!!
