I'm 47 had Copd for 2 years now, just had some tests done and received this in a letter today - FEV1 is 1.4 ( 38% predicted ) FVC3 (67% predicted ) ratio 46% which is compatible with an obstructive picture due to the Copd, please can someone explain what this means, many thanks cliff
Can anyone help please: I'm 47 had Copd... - Lung Conditions C...
Can anyone help please
Best thing is wait until the BLF Helpline opens, and have a chat with them. They have trained nurses who can explain it all for you. They are open M-F 10-6 on 03000 030 555
There was a message the other day that went over the different rates - blf.healthunlocked.com/blog... - but it's complicated. The NICE guidelines are the UK version, there's a document at nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/... if you can make sense of it - page 15, Table 4, refers to the FEV1% predicted and how that translates to severity.
There are people on here who have been classed as 'very severe' for years, so don't panic about the reading. It's how YOU feel and manage that counts.
Hi , Am Not Really Up On This FEV As All Mine Was Normal But I Assume 1.4 Is Liters Is aka Air Volume ..... Which Looks Pretty S### To Be Honest As Normal Lungs Are Near 4
Am No Expert .... But Chest Infections Colds Can Effect Readings So Ad Try Not To Worry
Sure Others Who Are More In Kno Will Explain .... Or Give BLF A Call Or Email
Cheers All The Best
Thanks Gordon will phone them in the morning, I've been ok until early part of this year, getting more breathless, had 6 chest infections and had 6 courses of antibiotics and steroids, had some tests done last week, got a ct scan on my lungs on the 5 July then bk to see the chest clinic 4 weeks after that
