Iv'e just been out for my usual walk after a few days of feeling a little bit dizzy. All is well now and I made it up the hill to the wooden seat, with the remembrance name on it 'Edward Elgar'.
I use this seat as a marker to how well I am doing, Elgars words 'Hope and Glory' is a reminder to me to never give up hope and ultimately head for glory with my lung transplant.
The day I cannot make it to this seat I know I'm deteriorating but Iv'e always made it, so me and my mate Elgar, who used to walk these paths are happy.
Anyway on returning home I noticed a large black cloud and it was heading my way. I suddenly felt the urge to get the lawn mowed before it arrived so even though I had just returned from a strenuous walk and was quite knackered, stupidly I proceeded to quickly get the washing in, take down the rotory dryer, get the electric mower out and away I went with oxy backpack blasting out 8 litres. I raced up and down that lawn like my life depended on it.
The cloud was up above now and it went very dark so where I would normally stop for a sit down I kept going, I was really blowing and there was spots of rain landing on the ELECTRIC MOWER!!.
I have a safety cut out so I finished the job and quickly carried the mower to the garage when the heavens opened, Whew! just in time I thought. Thats when the shortness of breath really hit home. I was really gasping for quite a while and I coughed up loads of sputum too but when things settled down I thought of THE KOFC BLOG, 'God and Grass'.
What stupidity, why did I have to do the lawn in such a rush, so I could add to the growing mound of compost in the corner of my garden. What was it all for?
Well I'm looking out of my patio window now at a well cut and very wet lawn, for some reason I feel glad that I did it, but I have two lawns and if I look out of my front window the grass is long and the daisies look lovely.
It seems as though the Madness will never end with our compulsion to have a nice looking lawn even though it only lasts for such a short time.
I'm going to have a good rest now and maybe listen to a bit of Elgars music, I bet the sun will come out next and dry my other uncutt lawn when I'm sure that mad urge to cut it will start all over again. DUUuuuu!!!!!!
Tony.

Wot you like Tony? But then I can't say nothing cos that's exactly what I've done over the years with me trusty electric Qualcast - in one hand, inhaler in the other. Are we brave or stupid Well done you, I can see in my minds eye how lovely it must look - the daisy lawn too. Lovelight x
Both lawns look good, but the one took a lot more effort than the other. I quite like those little daisies so why all the effort to cut them down. Ha Ha
I'm sure the neighbours have got me down as a little crazy. Some have kindly offered to do it for me but I always turn them down because the exercise is a good thing.
Thanks lovelight, and in answer to your question, there's no bravery here just pure stupidity.
Thanks BC, I took your advice and had a good rest in front of the TV watching the Voice. Its nice to put your feet up knowing you've done your bit in the day. Feet and legs are complaining a little though.
Ha Ha nice one Bev, but if I drunk the scotch that would be more fun, I could mow in some crazy patterns instead of those stupid straight lines that everyone seems to like.
Well break the mould them dall! Do some crazy wonderful patterns, take a picture and blog it on here
Hi Tony Well done you again just think the yard age you have covered if you could measure it you would be surprised, A well earned rest is due I hate to think what you have planned for tomorrow. MC
Good for you Tony! you took the challenge of getting it all done before the rain came and spoilt play and you did it! bet it looks great now and isn't it amazing how quickly it grows again!
don't forget Sunday is a day of well deserved rest! xxx
