Anybody's Sons, Daughters, Grand children, at the Download Festival at Castle Donnington.

My Son is there and looking at the line up I think I would have enjoyed it myself, There's a lot of bands playing that were around in my day, MotorHead, Iron Maiden, Uriah Heep etc.

The mind is willing but I think the body might complain a bit at 3 nights camping out so I think I'll live on the memories and leave it to the young fools eh'.

They'll probably show some highlights on TV so I'll watch it in comfort sitting in an armchair with a cold beer and look for my son in the crowd making a fool of himself. Ha

This is my son in the attatched photo, Hopefully he's dressed a little more suitable at Download or I don't fancy his chances of getting home alive.

Like you I would have been there, the discomforts were all part of the adventure. Sounds like a great line up too :)

It's great to see our children enjoying themselves as we used to be able too.

My daughter is there too! Slipknot headlining tonight apparently :-p If you are on Twitter you can see photos by following #DL2013. They even had sunshine yesterday but back to normal today with rain & mud - what joy! :-)

Iv'e been to Donnington Park loads of times in the past but to see motorcycle racing in the days of Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts.

It used to rain a lot then.

I watched the highlights of the 2012 download recently and I loved it so hopefully they'll show some of this years sometime soon.

There expecting 90,000 people so good music is still popular it seems, My 17 year old son love's Iron Maid and Ramstein who are both there.

He's been looking forward to this for months now so hopefully the weather doesn't try and spoil it for him and his mates.

At his age I'm sure the weather won't spoil it. Great music, loads of beer and yer mates - what more could you want? :-) !--! (Does that work as the "rock" symbol I wonder?) Oh what happy memories of youth. :-)

We have noise from the 3 counties show that locals complain about, I wonder what they would say if download was held there. I would love it but there is few around here who would.

Rock on Lynne

We are very near to Cosford (air show) and Weston Park (V festival). The traffic is horrendous and stops us from going out but I am really glad they happen.

Spoken as someone who did go to the IOW festival and the Stones in Hyde Park.

Isle of wight and the Stones Wow, pretty impressive, Iv'e only managed Bruce Springsteen at Leeds and Quo and Genises at the NEC when they were still good. The NEC was just a massive open Hall then and not the seated arena it is now.

Yay, I was at the Stones 1st concert in Hyde Park too Lynne! Just after Brian Jones died & they released the white doves (Gawd, or was it butterflies)?

We were probably both puffing away, my fags choice of choice then were Marlborough and I definitely only smoked for effect or shyness.

That concert was brilliant :-)

Yes and Mick wore that white dress that was fromChelsea Girl. They sold out within days.

It was butterflies and doves and many died unfortunately.

They have just shown a clip on local news of Castle Donnington. It is absolutely bucketing down.

I saw that too, Its a good job he's taken his wellies and I helped him waterproof his little pop up tent so that was time well spent it seems.

I think you and me are in the best place Tony. We are a bit too old for all that.

You think! Bobby, I know! too old and fragile, I'll wait for the TV highlights and watch it in the warm and dry.

Queen were a great band, I'll never forget their performance at the live aid concert. Freddy really got the show rocking that day.

The only thing I ever turned out for was Queen at Milton Keynes Bowl. Happy days.

Apparently they are recording highlights that will be broadcast on Sky Arts later this year. Unfortunately I haven't got Sky! :-(

Thanks mapal, Iv'e got the basic sky package which includes sky arts. I'll be looking out for that. You'll have to come round when its on.

My granddaughter Becki and her boyfriend are there. They have the luxury of a campervan this year so hopefully will not get as wet and muddy as usual. Half a chance and the price of a ticket and I'd be with them :)

Yes its a great line up this year, Its not all for the kids, there's a few bands I would love to see but the good old british climate and my health dosn't make for outdoor living these days. Its a shame :(

seeing as I didn't make it to the music festival, I went down the pub with my hubby. While he tucked into a big breakfast we watched the British Lions Rugby team thrash NSW Waratahs on Sky TV. Made a nice a change and I enjoyed the company. All being well we will probably do it again next week.
