Interesting chat with respiratory nurse.

Had my first meeting with this lady yesterday. She explained the figures after the tests and also took a sputum sample - so they can make sure the antibiotics in my rescue pack are the ones that will hit any infection hardest.

I have 30% lung function and a lung age of 110! I've never had a telegram from the queen - how disappointing! Anyhow she did say there was something interesting about me (finally at last!) which is that for my age and height I should be able to take in 2.93 litres of air and despite all the above I actually take in about 2.3 litres. Unfortunately my lungs just don't know what to do with it!

Hey ho

Pesky these lungs aren't they? Like little mischieveous elves who just don't know how to behave properly!

They sure are. My lung function was 31% with an age of 120. Mind you at the age of 70 what do they expect? Perfection?

I have to see my pulmonary consultant for my 6 month check in a couple of weeks. I'll be interested if there's been any change. I know peak flow is mainly for asthma but mines has gone up from 200 to 250 in the last couple of months. I've been using one of these for a few months. My job is quite active as well.

Grand slam here. This is my first blog. I enjoy all your blogs. Just diagnosed with asthma at the age of 76. Peak flow 350. Which is not to bad I try and walk for 30 minutes about 4times a week. I don't get out of breath. But I get out of breath if bending down trying to do my shoes. I am overweight of course.
