Alendronic Acid

Morning everyone.

Has anyone who has taken Alendronic Acid had bad side effects, started taking mine 13th May few days later I woke up with stabbing pains in my right hand side under my ribs, got worse over the next few days so ended up at the doctors. I had a temperature and the pain had moved to the bottom of my back, only just last couple of days felt better now I'm reluctant to take it.

A chat to your G.P. would probably be a good idea, since there are some side effects with this med. I won't insult your intelligence about the how to take it, since I am sure you are perfectly capable of reading the instructions. If you find you can't tolerate this med there are plenty of natural sources of good calcium C i.e., sesame seeds, almonds, or oatmeal and baked beans if you have a problem with nuts.

NOS group may be able to help further with this, they have professionals who answer questions in forum on Tuesdays and lots of others on site to share experiences about this drug.

i`ve been taking it for a couple of years now. happy to say no adverse reactions

I take it every Monday morning and hate it. A full glass of water to swill it down and standing for 1/2 an hour before breakfast is something I just don't look forward too but they tell me its good for me bones, so hey ho!.

I hope you have better luck with the next pill Kim, if it was the cause of your pains.

I take mine on Tuesday mornings. As far as I know you do not need to stand for 30 mins - you can stand or sit or do a combination- just not lay down. I follow my usual routine - teeth, shower etc. However I do miss not having morning cuppa in bed that day! Have never been aware of any side effects.

I take it and really hate it too, but have had no side effects apart, from when I took it with fizzy water instead of plain water. Never again. Are you definatly sure it was the tablet ? I can understand your reluctance to take it though. best wishes Julie xx
