"RCN member Matt Hodson has won the overall Nursing Standard Nurse of the Year award for 2013.

Nurse consultant Matt won the innovation in respiratory category and was one of a group of outstanding nursing staff honoured at an awards ceremony last night.

Matt works at Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, East London, where he has set up a life-changing clinic for patients who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). "

I wonder if what he has set up is a bit like the breath easy groups. The article doesn't give enough detail really but he must have done well to get that award.

I think it will be more of a professional set up than the breathe easy groups Lynne, its probably closer to NHS hospital based pulmonary rehabilitation I would think. .

May be along the lines of the Greenwich set up with additional extras but I am only guessing

Congratulations as well from us who are residents of Hackney! That's really good news are there any clinics for asthmatics or does Matt also cover asthma as well as copd!?Would like to know?

Check in with your GP or your respiratory nurse kaz67, I am sure they will know and be able to refer you.
