can someone please tell me why, when I reply or make a comment does the word 'delete' always visible on the right hand side ? :)

Whoever starts a topic gets that option, they can delete the entire thread by clicking on Delete. But, when you reply or comment it would only apply to the particular message that you've written as part of the overall topic.

That's why you often see 'deleted' messages from 'Anonymous', someone has written something then changed their mind, or as I've sometimes done, spotted an errror and wanted to change it, but the only way it to delete the message and do it again.

Thank you Gordon, its good to know I can change something if I'm not happy with it.

Perhaps a little rhyme written after a tiple or two? On the other hand, that's when i'm at my best so I'll proberly lay of the 'delete'
