Does a spacer enhance the effectiveness of short-term relievers? It seems so from what people have said. I have a recollection that a recent post gave a link to a "handy" model which had enough room inside for the inhaler. Information welcomed. Thanks in advance.

A spacer certainly improves the effectiveness of my inhaler. I don't think I have come across one that stores the inhaler though. Sorry I can't be more helpful John

I think spacer's are helpful for getting the medicine to the lungs more effectively. I use the aero chamber spacer for my inhaled steroid, this can also be used for the short term bronchodilator inhaler med (my respiratory nurse says you should have a separate spacer for different meds, not to use the same spacer for two different inhaler medicines)

The Aero Chamber you can get on NHS prescription.

The Able spacer is not available on the NHS to my knowledge.

Here is amazon link showing the two spacer's mentioned:

I get the able spacer on the NHS.

I too get the able spacer on the NHS, Teddyd, much more discrete than the larger one I find.

Just spotted this pdf - able spacer listed:

My consultant said it improves the amount you get into the lungs.

I think spacers are helpful in getting the most out of the medicine, helping to get the medicine to where it is needed.
