Hi Everybody

I hope everyone is feeling well today - a liitle humid and warm here in Liverpool but without much sun.

If anyone wants information on how to access clinical trials in the UK this can be done by accessing NHS Choices - putting the name of your condition in the search box - clicking on the overview - a tab with 'clinical trials' should then come up, clicking on this will then take you to current trials.

Hi Jo, I actually posted details of GSK's clinical trials at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, a while ago but no-one commented or said they'd had a look. A shame, because no drugs involved and the "expenses" can be substantial. I did one for them a few years ago, involved 3 visits a year for 3 years, and 2 scans. Was paid just under £1,000. Plus, they asked me to take part in one off trials now and then - wearing a cough monitor for 24 hours for instance, which paid £40, they even came to the house and fitted it and came back the next day and removed it -also a one off walk trial which took about half an hour, again £40.

They are now paying up to £3,000. I would never volunteer for a drugs trial though - too scared!

This is another site you can find them on: clinicaltrials.gov/

I took part in a year-long Phase III trial 3 years ago at the Brompton and did so well on the drug that the pharma company continued to supply it to me. As yet it's only licensed for CF so if I hadn't been on the trial I wouldn't be as well as I am now. I didn't get paid anything except expenses but am so glad I took part.

Went into that site ff and its for the US only. Nothing in Uk there.

Hi Bev, you're right it's a US-based site but it covers the world. It's no better than the NHS one (which is great and which links to WHO) but is still worth checking, I found my trial through it. I am always researching new therapies!
