I know for sure that exercise (treadmill in bedroom) 4-5 times a week and 02 therapy is what keeps me vertical.. I am slow on treadmill but my doctor says "Just keep one foot in front of the other" Good luck to all that have just learned about this disease. I'm going on 14 years now. It's hard at times but you just have to keep on keeping on.

yes, it 's hard at times. make sure you get the inhaler and use it perhaps before you go on the treadmill.

I am recovering from pneumonia, pseudomonas and Clostridium Difficile. I found some Chinese exercises that i can do in the morneing it's called the 8 pieces of brocade. I found this on YouTube but with French commentary. Still you can wiatch it and copy them.

Just the first set of exercises. don't worry about the French.

If you find this in English, fair game!

I voted for " Living well to improve your lung health " but I think the word " health " should be replaced by " function " as quite a few of us cannot improve the heath of our lungs but can improve the way they function. I hope you don't mind me adding my thoughts on the matter.

I like health as function is heavy on the clinical hope you don't mind my thoughts they are only one more opinion when that is what was asked for.

I fully agree!!

All of the titiles imply that you can make your lung disease better - you can't! The dammage is already done and can't be repaired.Too many sufferers are mislead into thinking they are going to get better. PR, diet and exercise may possibly enable someone with lung disease to walk a little further or make climbing the stairs less distressing - it won't ever make you better.

in reply to Hedge

Differentiating between better an improvement in circumstances against better curing a progressive lung condition appears the primary focus educating expectations in such a booklet.

I would agrree with that puff

I think it should be replaced with "capacity" too

I'm sorry I didn't vote because I don't like any of the suggestions.

I'd prefer something more like "Battle to Breathe" or "Coping with COPD" or "Lungs for Life" ...

I havent voted as they all feel clunky to me. I feel very negative saying this as i don't at the mo have a better suggestion. Am thinking about it and will post if i come up with anything.

Oh just thought of a possibility, could maybe be something like: Live well, breathe better.

Or: Living Well: Breathing Better

Anyway no-one has to like these ones but I'd urge you to spend time getting something better and snappier than the ones you've put out for voting.

Live well, breathe better gets my vote as well. Much better than the BLF suggestions. Hope the booklet is better than the titles they suggested! :-)

I think the blue one ( your lifestyle and your lung condition ) says you have a problem and you may be able to improve it. The others could just be for anyone.

Sorry, don't want to sound negative but none of them do it for me. They all sound very cumbersome, unattractive and inaccurate from the point of view of severe COPD. Can't think in what way my lungs could be healthier, better or improved; my fitness level may be better, my quality of life may be improved, but not my lung condition.

It should be called "A lot of work for minimal gains and no research funding for lung diseases"!!

Live Well, Breathe Better would get my vote as suggested by 02Trees - sorry feel the same about BLF suggestions - they imply your lungs can get 'better' which would give false hope.

Hope it's as informative as you last booklet ' You your COPD and Health Management' I've referred to that numerous times !!......It's been like a breath of fresh air !!!

No voter... not bothered with the title anyway - just hope it will be free and handed out to every person on diagnosis, as well as anyone else that wants it. It is particularly important for folks who may not be online to be given this type of info - it is shocking how many 'offline' COPD'ers I have met at various clubs who think that they just have 'a bit of chest trouble' or 'a weak chest'. At a talk i attended last year one patient raised his hand to ask should he change his GP because he had had this 'copd thing' for over a year now and his GP still hadn't found him the 'right medicine' to get rid of it!

Agree with Parvati above and other posters who pointed out that all the titles are somewhat lacking. "Live Well, Breathe Better" gets my vote. I also think there should be separate booklets for to the benefits of exercise and diet.

exercise sure helps my creaking old lungs only quarter of a way into my daily walk I start coughing as the phlegm gets dislodged and loosened up

I'd go for "Live Well, Breathe Better". It's got a sort of ring about it saying there's room for improvement if you care to take action.

I DONT THINK IT SHOULD SAY LIVING WELL, CAUSE YOU ARENT LIVING WELL REALLY. IF YOU HAVE COPD, YOU ARE COPING WELL!! IF THIS PAMPHLET IS GOING TO INCLUDE THOSE UK EXERCISES, MAYBE SOMETHING REFERRING TO

"HELPING YOU COPE BETTER WITH COPD" OR "SMILING WHILE YOUR COPING WITH COPD", THE BUDDY SYSTEM FOR COPD, EXERCISE IS NOT JUST FOR

HIPS ANYMORE", ON AND ON AND ON.. MEDICAL SUMMARIES DO NOT SOUND INVITING TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THE SAME SAYINGS OVER AND OVER.

GIVE IT SOMETHING CLEVER OR CUTE AND/OR HOPEFUL. I WILL KEEP THINKING AND INERJECT. MR.FLICK HAS A PERSONALITY WHERE I BET HE COULD COME

UP WITH A DOOZEY!! ASK HIM. RESEARCH THE HARD WAY. ZELDA
