Last time i travelled to Florida i wasn't on o2 24/7 so I took a POC that I purchased before I went and used it in our apartment or in the car

There is a company in Kissimmee, Florida which rents various types of concentrators. I hired a concentrator in 2012 at the rate of $100 per week and took it with me as we moves to different locations. The service was excellent.

The name of the company is Burkley.

I dont feel confident enough now to have o2 delivered to the airport or to have enough o2 to take me through the airports in the UK

I have been told by my consultant not to fly but asked my own doc if was ok to travel by train from Aberdeen to Dover via London he asked how i was feeling and said it was ok with him and enjoy myself before i would be connected to a machine, which was a bit of a shock but no mention of oxygen i have fibrosis ,what do you think?

I have used 02 for the last 5 years going to the Balearics. I use an Air Products company on the mainland to book what I require without going through my UK supplier; I just fax or email the HOOF direct to them. It hasn't so far cost me anything although I do take my own POC for ambulatory as I now have enough batteries to last 3 hours and the one that is supplied for that use only lasts an hour - not a lot of time for shopping!

Am now trying to arrange the same thing for Southern Spain so that I can visit my inlaws without having to pay an arm or leg for the service!

I use Thompsons for flights and they are very helpful and providing I book early enough I usually manage to get on the flights I want with 02, which I have needed for the last 3 years when I was put on ltot 16/24. Consultant thinks a flight of 2 - 3 hours is ok for me, but as I don't really want to go anywhere else this is not so restricting as it may sound.

It would be helpful Mark if we had some guidelines on how to arrange/book/organise 02 into and out of UK airports. Any chance BLF can do the research for us?

Hi you say you contact an Air products Company on the main land and they will contact the UK supplier, Is this something your Doctor helps with or can you supply the name of the air Products company you use, We were considering travel by Euro Tunnel and Ferry to travel to Spain

Could only check one box, so yes found it difficult and expensive as posted earlier, ended up buying second hand off Ebay.....that too difficult. Again see earlier posting

I find it very complicated and confusing, things such as some airlines allow you to use their o2 on board but can't take own so what do you do with bottles have been using while in the airport and what happens when you get off plane before get to accomm and supply. I wanted to go away this summer with family but couldn't deal with the different regulations etc

I am going on a 7day cruise leaving Malaga next month. I have tried every suggestion offered through this site, and some others, but still cannot find any company that will rent a concentrator that I can pick up at Malaga.

It is possible to rent a portable unit in the UK and take it with me. I am having to do this but it is another piece of luggage and it is heavy enough.

Try SMILE rehab. They rent out portable concentrators at reasonable prices. If your lpm is not too high, try the freestyle, (1 - 3 lpm) or the Focus (2 lpm) which are both very lightweight.

I successfully got a dewer of liquid oxygen delivered to a river cruise on the Siene. The French firmLVL Medical Group were the suppliers.Although costly ( 450 euros for a week )the contact was very helpful & replied to my emails in English. I was able to fill my cannister from the French Dewer.
