Bladder problems since MS

Hello all. I was dx with MS in 2010. My onset symptoms included bladder incontinence, and after dx bladder problems have remained and worsened these 8 years living with MS, from UTIs, loss of control, instant rush to urine, to blood i n urine, to kidney stones. All this has happened since living with MS. I just had surgery on Monday to remove the stones and it's very painful. They placed a stent inside. I'm wondering if anyone else has had such frequent, severe bladder/kidney problems with MS. I wonder why this is? I'm 56 and never had bladder problems until MS first attacked my body. Any help is apppreciated.

Hi join the club ive Fibro which has many similar symptoms to MS as they thought i had that originally

The bladder is just a muscle so anything that effects the nerves/muscles/blood circulation sends a BIG whaa whaa sign to bladder.

How do you manage it so far?

Do you get leakage during day or at night as well?

Also lock your post as many won't reply if not as goes net wide if not locked you will see a little padlock sign to the right of your name date replies

Thanx oscarbravo. I never even heard docs explain bladder as a muscle. That helps to clarify things a bit. The medicine that seemed to controlk my problems was Detrol, so I've been on that. I'm actually recovering now from kidney stone removal surgery last Monday. I'm hoping this will be the answer to occasional blood in my urine and bladder pain. I never had leakage, just a sudden rush, which sometimes I made, sometimes I didn't. Oh well! The Detrol calmed this alot. Thanx for response and tip about message lock. Best to you...

We have three types of muscle construction Striped, unstriped and Cardiac.

and two reactions of muscles voluntary and involuntary!

Voluntary to make it move &involuntary is internal muscles ie organs which are unstriped ie no fat layers in them unlike Cardiac which is involuntary but a striped muscle as you must have seen them in the butchers with fat on them?

All the other internal organs are smooth muscle and it's it being a muscle that makes it empty when needed so it squeezes and even your stomach/bowels are a muscle as they squeeze to make food move through it.
