Post op mitral valve

Hi I had a mitral valve replacement in March. The op went as expected but the next day I went into cardiac arrest and had to be reopened on the spot, after getting my heart beating again i was put in an induced coma for a few days til I was able to be brought out of it. It has left me with many triggers and I now am having therapy because of it. They aren't sure why it happened but think it was because of the tube inserted to help me breath had caused an air bubble in my stomach stopping my heart from beating properly. I still have really hard to control AF. They have now recommended I have ablation to take away the node that beats and replace it with a permanent pacemaker that will beat in place of it. As you can imagine I am terrified that I will have to go through same process of having the tube inserted so have declined the procedure at present. Has anyone had this procedure done that can tell me if I have to have the breathing machine or can just have a mask and breath on my ownTIA

How unlucky can you be. Success rate of replaceing valves is very high and you have been the rare failure. Let’s hope you can be recovered and join the rest of us hearties who had successful ops.
