Good morning all.

I had a Triple Bypass and Mitral Valve Repair done in 2019 and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Heart Failure.

I’ve recently had my Annual CHD Check up.

This was detailed on the ECG Results

“Interpretation: Sinus Rhythm with 1st degree A V Anterior Block Cannot rule out Anterior Infarct age undetermined. Abnormal ECG”.

Does anyone know what this means?

My next question is to do with the following result:

Serum N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide conc 564 pg/mL; August 2024

In February this year this was 456. November last year this was 406.

I had a call from a “Clinical Practitioner Access Role” from the surgery who said this was a “slight increase”?

I said I wasn’t convinced that this could be classed as a “slight increase” and I requested that he speaks to the Cardiologist I was under. He’s agreed to do this.

I’m also not sure of his role in the practice because he’s not listed as a GP

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

David

so, a few pointers for you.

Were not allowed on this site to interpret tests such as blood tests and ecg’s. We are merely interested non medics.

A clinical practitioner would be I think any of the medical staff from nurse practitioners to doctors. Your practice booklet on line should explain these roles. For instance, there are Physician Associates who are trained for a couple of years and might be consulted by a patient, but under the eye of a general practitioner.

I dont know about your practice but in mine, when I look up test results, I can go further and get an idea of what the test is. It depends on what software your practice uses I imagine, or on the test centre that does these tests. As I haven’t had that test I don’t get the detail of that one but you might.

Hi Dave

I can't answer re the ECG question but my husband who has had a previous heart attack & now has HF often has the wording infarct age undetermined, abnormal ECG. I personally don't think it means much but maybe you phone the BHF nurses for advice.

The results of pro BNP blood test being 564 is quite low and 8 believe the increase would be considered slight, my husbands BNP level increased from 700's to 1000 and his cardiologist wasn't at all concerned. Again you could phone the BHF nurses who will be able to put your mind at rest. The phone number is below.

For a chat with a cardiac nurse, contact our Heart Helpline at 0808 802 1234, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Learn more at: bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo
