I relented on Friday last took one it eased alot. My heart rate drops below 50;then goes up high for a short time. I as diagnosed with Infrequent ones a few years back. Got a call booked with doctor has she said to me when she so me face to face she took the beta blockers of repeat said see how I go ring me if problems as I suggested taking them as and when

Hello :-)

Beta blockers do work for many and sometimes like you trying to come of them can show us just how much they were working

I hope your Doctors telephone appointment goes well and possibly they will put you back on them :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi Tinker2015,

1.25mg of Bisoprolol is a low dose, but some of us are very sensitive to this medication. I personally cannot cope with a higher dose as my heart rate drops too much and I get awful feelings of impending doom. I can sympathise with you wishing to come off it.

It seems to me that taking the medication after you have ectopic beats is a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Your body won't know what is happening to it. Would it not be much better to be proactive and take a medication to stabilise your condition? Perhaps a low dose of an alternative beta blocker might be the solution.... something to discuss with your GP?

I hope you get this sorted.

I was originally prescribed bisoprolol but could not tolerate half a 1.25mg pill. I have since been changed to carvedilol I am OK with the lowest dose 3.125mg but despite trying many times I am unable to tolerate 6.25mg. The initial consultant was adamant that I should progressively escalate to 25mg and informed my GP to handle this??? Everyone is different and it takes time to find what best suits you. Do not be afraid to question decisions sometime made in haste due to the current NHS problems.

I was the same as you for stopping and starting an key med. What I found when restarting, even on a low dose was that I ended up with the runs the next day and I knew the cause! Its easy to forget those teathing moments.
