cold and tingly feet

I had a quadruple bypass 4years ago and am now finding that my feet get cold and a sort of tingling sensation anyone got any comments?

Has there been any change to your activities or medication lately? Does anything trigger it? Does anything make it better? Have there been any other new symptoms?

I've no medical training, the best advice I can offer is to think about those questions and speak to your GP - they can help get to the bottom of this and if you come prepared with information and sine questions of your own it will help them out.

well I had mine nearly one year ago and I have never had warm feet or hands since!! Or nose for that matter

I had a similar sounding complaint. I went to the GP and they did a Doppler check to confirm blood supply was normal (it was) but didn't come up with much else. Do you also get swollen ankles (fluid retention)? I found a diuretic helped a bit but less so over time. Do you also get occasional shooting pains in your toes? My fear is that it is peripheral neuropathy but I understand there isn't much they can do about that so it's just a case of coping.

BTW, as you can probably tell, I'm not a medic!

I get it too, but I think it was an issue before I had a bypass at the end of June. I also get cramp in my ankles in bed at night periodically. I have been diagnosed with stenosis in the neck and have already had lower back surgery for leg pain. I get a tingling in my left hand too. And sometimes it all turns into sharp Ian as if I am being pinched. Peripheral neuropathy has many causes and ideb=tifying what it is can be hard I believe. I find pregabalin he's but my UK GP was wary of it. Fortunately, I mostly live somewhere where I can get it over the counter!

are you taking a Beta-blocker? these can have that effect on the circulation of blood to the extremities, particularly if you have a tendency to Raynauds or peripheral vascular disease

have you reported this to your GP/cardiologist?

I’m on bisoprolol are you having a laugh about the gp as for cardiologist I haven’t seen one of those since 8 weeks after my op I’ll have a look at your 2 suggestions though thanks

i'm sorry, i wasn't "having a laugh" but i know that not every one is lucky enough to have a GP who can take the time to listen - i wish the situation was different and that everyone could have the service they need

i do feel that these symptoms should be reported to your GP, it could be that a change of medication might help, but you might also need further investigations to rule out peripheral vascular issues if this is affecting you badly - you could also ask a pharmacist about what alternatives to beta-blockers might be available, they tend to know more about side effects than GPs and are easier to contact

I had my bypass 4.5years ago.Since then I too have got cold nose,left hand and left foot.Also I have continuous pain in the pads below my thumbs.But hey I am alive and doing everything I want
