Exercise with angina.

I'm trying to get over my mental block to exercise. I have microvascular angina, so it's constant. Even though it's been a few years on this journey, 2011, first HA, a few stents, so no major problems as so many have. Whenever I do exercise, I seem to overdo it and get told off by gp. GTN does relieve it. At the moment, even 5min on exercise bike causes pain for a while. Get so tired, but that could be stress. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have MVA and find that a long, slow warm up is very helpful for exercise. Take it *very* slowly to accelerate.

I use a chest strap ecg (Wellvue) to monitor what is happening to my heart on an exercise bike so that I can reduce, or not further increase, intensity if I see indications of ischaemia (ST-depression, T-wave flattening.

You sound as if you're having a tough time. So sorry.

Walking. Go for walks. Small walks building up the distance. Walk at a speed you can talk ok. Slowly increase speed also. Slowly does it but do it everyday. You'll be amazed how good it is and it will get you out and about. If it rains take an umbrella. Don't find excuses find reasons to go out.

I find it hard to walk, I have a brain disorder FND, so don't have good control of where my legs end up. That is why I rely on exercise bike. Sorry for late reply, but my phone update has messed my phone up. I do try to get outside for my vitamin d, here in Australia we are in winter. Take care. Moni
