Readmitted to hospital on thursday with worsening symptoms & troponin rise, I was sent home the next day & told to stop propranolol without tapering off & given ivabradine instead ,its making me feel awful and a bit panicky ,has anyone any experience of ivabradine & betablockers taken together ? I'm freaking out!

I'm an absolute mess awaiting my 1st cardiologist appointment but many put my mind at rest not 100% but all the same, it's nice to know there are genuine people in this world 😀

I can understand that ,I was discharged over 2 years ago but didnt get better so I had no cardiologist! I dont feel any less anxious now that I do have one lol, write down your concerns & any questions you have I found that helpful

I'm sorry that it's a difficult journey, my meds constantly changing. I take metopolol and ivabradine together, plus other heart meds. I haven't had any side effects. I hope that things improve enough that it's manageable. It is a new normal. But don't Google too much, and only believe half. Trust your cardiologist. Take care.

That's what I was wondering about taking the 2 together, I'm ok after first dose but inbetween I'm very shaky like I cant settle /adrenaline/panicky. They didnt even keep me long enough to see how I was with change in meds ! My own cardiologist knows nothing about it either 😬

Yes, it's take this, see me next year! It really depends where you live and how busy they are. Keep record of your symptoms and see if there is a cardiac nurse you can phone on a regular basis, they can be very reassuring. Hope you settle with your meds.

I live in northern Ireland so I'm lucky if I can see my own gp one month to the next ! I didn't think it was a good idea to stop propranolol cold turkey & told the cardiologist but she didnt agree so now I'm left with the aftermath, I'm having lots of side effects with ivabradine too 🙄

I'm Regional Australia, actually my nephew and family are in Ireland. Waiting list for cardiologist usually 12 mths, but Gp is quite accessible. Try to get phone number for cardiac nurse from hospital, just phone and leave your number and details, it's worth a try. Take care.

Helly - I have no experience of your condition or your medication but I would suggest you have a word with your local pharmacist. I am on a cocktail of meds and felt quite rough. My pharmacist checked and recommended spacing some out so they didn't interact with each other, it has made a difference. Initially I was told to take the lot first thing in the morning! HTH

I was on both & found it was the beta blockers that I couldn’t tolerate, I had no side effects from Ivabradine. I would imagine the symptoms you are experiencing are from stopping the bb’s suddenly. Do get some medical advice to overcome this.

Thank you, I'm hoping it's just the sudden change in meds, fingers crossed I get used to it soon

I take both (Ivabradine & Bisoprol) and also take Losarton, Lacidipine and Spirolactone.

I also feel quite panicky sometimes and do deep breathing to calm myself down. I have heart failure.

Thanks for the reply, I think its maybe the sudden stop of propranolol I felt it was helpful to me for anxiety & I'm not loving ivabradine at all 😣
