Cardiologist telephoned me today with results of heart scan after double bypass in Dec 2020. EF up from 31% in August to 60% now. Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone. Good night and God Bless x x Knees are improving after fall.
Good News.: Cardiologist telephoned me... - British Heart Fou...
Good News.
That is good news. Can I ask what ‘EF’ is and which type of scan you had?
I think EF is Ejection Fraction - it's how well your heart is pumping blood to/from the heart as far as I'm aware. I had a MRI scan recently (after a heart attack and stent fittings in December) and the results showed 59% but no explanation as to whether this is good, bad or indifferent! I looked it up on various NHS sites and found that 50-70% is a good score. Whilst it is good news it is 'one' measure of progress- not 'the' measure - as I'm finding out there are many different aspects to life after heart attack and measuring progress seems to be more of an art than a science!
Thank you. I had a quad bypass in Nov and been anticipating what follow up tests hence question. Your reply was helpful.
Thanks for your reply. How are you doing after your bypass. It takes some time.. I had a telephone consultation with HF team yesterday but it was Cardiologist who telephoned me with the good news. I just still take good care of my diet and exercise as I'm type 2diabetic. Have a good day x x
I’m doing good thanks. Took on the C25K run challenge after 12 weeks which I completed successfully but understand my body is still healing so was just curious about what tests to expect to check post bypass improvements. I’ve always maintained a good diet and fitness regime, just inherited tricky genes unfortunately! Pleased you are doing well.
That is good to hear. Just don't get complacent and slip back in to old habits.
Thanks shopman. I'm more determined to take extra care now as heart disease has taken all of my family suddenly. I'm the lucky one I got 2nd chance. My husband and children are elated. 12 months of a weight been lifted off their shoulders. How are you keeping. Take care and stay safe x x
I got the chance my brother didn't - never knew I had a brother until a fw years later. He had gone to docs feeling unwell and had HA at Reception, he was gone before he hit the floor. Now turns out I have plenty of relatives with cardio issues quite a few of whom have had CABGs or stents.
For me this happened in 1997, had 4 x CABG in 1999, that lasted until 2015 without any problems and have since had 3 procedures for stents. Got a few other issues now but have lived to see my Grandkids grow up - they are now starting on GreatGrandKids + I got to draw my OAP Pension.
WOw, what an improvement. Well done. You must be thrilled.
Sounds like great news, hopefully you continue to improve and enjoy your life. Great post love these positive posts.
