Hi. I’m new here and just want to get things off my chest. Ha!
I’m 53. On the 13th feb 2021. Had heart attack and stent fitted. All going well for about 3 weeks when I started to get chest pains again. Back to the hospital. A night in revealed heart was ok, sent home. Two week later pain still there, wife calls ambulance, back we go. Lots of test. Heart ok, go home.
It’s now been 8 weeks since this new crippling pain has started and I’m none the wiser.
The doctor has told me he thinks it’s probably Costochondritis (I haven’t seen him, this was over the phone). He gave me codein. Two weeks later I filled the new form in on the internet to talk to a doctor. He called me back and said, it’s not your heart. It will go. But it’s not. The pain is so bad. It covers the whole of my chest area. It kind of feels like a bad chest infection x10.
Sorry if I’m going on but they say it helps to write things down sometimes.
So, the chest pain I don’t really know why or what it is. The other problems I’m having might be the tablets.

There, that’s a nice moan to get things off my chest. Should I click post? I think I will because there might be someone out there with an answer
Thanks for reading,
Dave

Hi sorry to hear your not feeling good ,, I unfortunately don’t have same but I’m sure someone will be of help or just a helping ear , I tend not to read the pamphlets as they make me more anxious are you maybe avin a anxiety attack as I know myself have had to go to a&e recently and they say I’m good to but inside I really don’t feel it so know exactly how u feel it’s the something wrong but no simple answers ,, hope you get a solution as to why your feeling this way real soon , take care x
It sounds absolutely awful the pain you are experiencing and so scary .
I have no idea what it could be ?
I had my HA a year ago one stent . The stent took some settling down and that caused me to have two and e visits post H.A. It was just like having another HA and I panicked.
I think it would be wise to ring your regular Gp as it’s not right you are getting all this chest pain . Sorry can’t be more helpful hope you get it sorted ASAP.
Thank you 🙂I’ve filled in an online form for the doctors to call me back tomorrow (hopefully). I get the feeling with my doctors though, if it’s not a heart problem again then they are not interested
I have costochondritis. It’s normally worse when you breathe deeply. If it isn’t then it’s probably not costochondritis. There are lots of things that can cause chest pain that often get overlooked. Gall stones and pancreatitis come to mind
I had similar experience, for me it was reaction to the multiple medication & compounding effects they had on one another...found a very good Cardiologist who listened & did not dismiss my experience-tried different medication & it helped tremendously.
Presumably they ruled out Pericarditis? Inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart. I had a HA and had to be readmitted the day after discharge with bad chest pains. They said it was pericarditis, and gave me colchicine (anti flammatory) because I could not take Ibuprofin.Look at Mayo clinic. They have good explanations of this sort of stuff Good luck. One thing to say is that after an MI, you get all sorts of strange pains. When I had mine, there was no rehab because of covid. I saw a cardiologist privately, and he said that it was a real issue, not so much because of the exercises etc. but more the fact that you can talk to others in the same boat and cardio nurses.
You might talk to the BHF. You can always talk to cardio nurse.
I have fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, numerous trapped nerves in my spine as well as hA and 2 stents. I regularly get bouts of costochondritis but it only affects the centre of my chest where ligaments attach to the ribs around your breastbone. IT does not affect the entire chest. Botha cardiologist and orthopaedics have told me, press on your breastbone. If it hurts when you press then it's costochondritis. If pressing makes no difference, get heart checked.
Thank for that information. I’m pressing just now and it does nothing. I have a doctor calling me back this afternoon as this definitely needs investigating
Hi, I have costochonritis and at first it’s damn scary, was convinced I was having a heart attack. A simple ultrasound can detect/confirm if it definitely is it. It’s basically an inflammation of the lining between your ribs & chest bone and sits right between the right of your heart & the centre of your chest. They can inject directly into it to reduce the inflammation which I had done, it wasn’t pleasant but pain subsided very quickly after. If left untreated it won’t go easily as it’s damaged cartilage. Good luck, get the ultrasound for peace of mind.
Hi I can sympathise with your problems of pains in the chest
I also have random pains in my chest after a HA in Dec 2020, I did have another trip to the hospital, said it was not a HA but could not tell me what causing the problem.
I have read the other comments and maybe I have a similar problem inflammation of the chest walls.
I have found that deep breathing and relaxing does seem to help reduce the symptoms.
I would be interested to hear from other people with similar pains in the chest area.
