Feeling depressed after HA

Hi I had a HA and was in hospital over Easter for 5days on coming home after having angiogram and now waiting for MRI of heart I feel so unwell depressed and full of fear that in the meantime until they find the cause something bad is going to happen to me feel really scared at bedtime because my mom died in her sleep from HA is it natural for me to feel so low

Perhaps understandable rather than natural. Sunshine will lift your mood. This will pass with time.

Hi Florider, It appears we are in a similar position though I was diagnosed with HF stage 3 a couple of months ago but still building with medication. Both my parents died with cardiovascular issues. Firstly HF term worries everyone I’ve spoken to! It’s not unusual to experience anxiety but there are people that can help. Your local HF clinic are only a phone call away they are the experts and will give you face to face time. They have helped me to come to terms with my situation. Kind regards S

So sorry to hear you are having such a bad time. The fear is awful and i completely understand it, that alone will be making you feel poorly.

I hope you have good support at home and people you can talk too. When you are in shock shocked after such an event and unsure how to deal with it all its scary and everything seems at its worst. Things will ease you will get a treatment plan and you will get back on track.

If the medics were unhappy that you were in danger you would not be at home but in hospital. Do you have a cardiac nurse you can ring for support. Things will improve, chin up, stay strong.

Hello I have close family members who have suffered with HA etc and have found that they too suffered feeling the same way. The thing is it makes you think of mortality more than ever but these feelings do get better over time . You should discuss these feelings with your GP and family and get the support.

You did not mention any medications and they evidently did not feel they needed to fit stents.

No stents just taking 7 meds at moment until they find the cause hopefully when I have MRI

Hi there,Different people go through different emotions when someone like this happens and the worse thing in my opinion is not knowing.

But the good thing is you're in the system and you will be cared for.

I had a heart attack December 2016.

I had five stents March 2017

I had five bypasses (CABG x5) March 2019.

There has been times when I've felt really low and there have been times when I've been elated that I've survived.

Now at the age of 67 I think that life is really good, different but good.

I'm so great full that the problem has been found and the NHS have been incredible in getting me back to a good standard of living.

My father died in his sleep from a heart attack. He was 53 years of age (I was 17) and that never leaves you but you, like me, are in the system now and thank goodness we are.

You're on a bit of a journey at the moment while you're "getting fixed" but hang on in there, it gets better.

All the Harties on here have been through similar procedures, your not on your own.
