3 stents fitted 3 weeks ago.

Question is I’m not being pressured into taking beta blockers but advised it would help my recovery.

Blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels are back tae normal so I would like tae know the pros and cons of taking the blocks

What beta blockers has your cardio suggested? These are prescribed for many different reasons in your case I would have thought to ease the strain or stress on your heart. Stents are to open up your arteries to allow blood flow more easily taking the strain of your heart. Beta blockers assist your heart maintaining a healthier heart rate and prolonging your life. Now that is a big pro. Cons can be side affects but in my case and opinion nothing compared to having an unhealthy heart.

Stay Safe

Jim, here's the thing.

Stents won't fix heart disease, they just relieve the symptoms. In fact there is no cure. The only weapons you have to even slow down the advance of heart disease are life style changes and medication.

Personally I'd chuck everything possible into the fight, including Beta Blockers. As Gil said, they will take some of the strain off your heart, and if we're going to have our fair share of healthy years then we need all the help we can get!

Good luck!

My problem was I checked Dr Google before speaking tae Dr Heart nurse and pharmacist, my resting heart rate is on 60-64, just unsure about possible side effects Also I’m sleeping for Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 As it is lol

Ditch Dr google. You’ve never met him or her and they have never met you. And sleep is a great healer and once your meds are sorted you will have more energy and your sleep pattern will return

Modern beta blockers specifically target the heart and are much better than older drugs in terms of side effects. Dosage can be varied to get the right balance for you. Like you I had stents a few weeks ago. I feel slightly tired but this could be other drugs or just my recovery. My resting heart rate has dropped about 10 bpm with the bisoprolol I'm taking. I'd take what is suggested and see how you get on.
