Am I classed as having heart disease

I had a minor heart attack at the start of last year due to a narrowing of one of my arteries. They fitted a stent and said there was no other signs of narrowing elsewhere.

Do I count as having heart disease?

I'm afraid so but luckily it has been found and treated. Have a look at the BHF site for healthy lifestyle tips and welcome to the forum.😀

I don't think any HA can be regarded as being minor. Be kind to yourself 👍

You & I are in the same boat with me there was no plaque or calcification. However HA is a serious things so do take care of yourself. It’s okay it’ll get less shocking with time & you’ll feel better. Stay well

Sadly yes you most definitely do! Take this as a warning, you are one of the lucky one's who have a second chance to modify your lifestyle, which has more than likely been responsible for it. They probably meant that you have no other serious narrowing, but you could well have a general narrowing, it's fairly obvious that not just that one site is affected? Diet, exercise, de-stress, good luck!

Unfortunately yes. Same thing happened to me. I just developed unstable angina one night the precursor to a heart attack. Had 2 stents fitted and I'm now counted as having heart disease even though no damage was done to my heart.

I would imagine that it is classed as heart disease. I had a pacemaker in 2018 and I have often thought whether I’m classed as the same, as my cardiologist said mine is an ‘electrical’ problem? Just look after your diet and physical well-being 🙂

Hi Vickyvix

Asked the same question recently and the feedback I had was yes! Its difficult as I still play sport and want to carry on as normal however I supposed we need to be mindful of what we are living with. I have not really adjusted my lifestyle but I am taking this very seriously to adjust at the moment.

My issue is to stop being so competitive with the sport thing which is difficult for me! Half of me says I need to be cautious they other says live life to the full and what will be will be.

Good luck with everything going forward
