Sinus Tachycardia and PoTs

Hi there.

So I'm struggling lately with my Tachycardia and PoTs.

Everytime i move I have an increased heart rate going up to 120ish. I also have Brittle Asthma and when I'm coughing it's taking a long time for my heart rate to go down

Unfortunately the specialist in the PoTs in our area has gone off long term sick so I'm basically not seeing anyone.

Really starting to panic with the symptoms I'm getting but I explain things to the gp and get nowhere. Also having to go into hospital a lot with it and have ambulances out.

My symptoms are not managed well at the moment and I'm starting to worry that if this carrys on something bad will happen.

I am on the highest dose of ivabradine but it really doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Any ideas...please?

Ps sorry about the rant.

Hi Skyblue1202Can’t advise on your medication but will try to help in other ways. Always being on expectancy alert does raise the heart rate no matter how fit you are it’s the bodies alert system. If you can just withdraw for say 5 or 10 mins trying not to focus for the moment on your thoughts. You will slowly but surely start to hear the Rhythm of your chest area. One thing you can try which works for me is sit upright against the side of your bed one leg out straight the other tucked at right angles under the other leg it doesn’t matter what leg you feel comfortable in keeping straight try it out a few times to get the balance then keeping your back straight then put your head back so that so that you can see where the ceiling and the wall meet in the corner then draw your breath up through your stomach keep pulling up until you feel your breath filling the top of your head hold for 4 seconds and release slowly until your breath is out then repeat do not get stressed if it does not work straight away. It works when you don’t concentrate on the process let your body work it’s own magic. One word of warning if and when it works be prepared for a release of stress and tension you probably have never experienced before. I wish you a stress free future good luck with everything else.

Hi Skyblue1202,

I don't know anything about PoTS, but there is a website you could have a look at , that might be helpful. It has a list of specialists who care for people with PoTS.

Try potsuk.org

best wishes.

Hi Skyblue,I have PoTS & suffer from ectopic beats, & like yourself, plenty of ambulance trips to hospital. I recently booked a phone appointment with Dr Sanjay Gupta & received lots of good advice. I think he is one of the most well informed Dr's I have ever spoken to. We discussed medication, lifestyle changes, supplements, & cardiac function/test results. Have you watched his YouTube videos?

Cheers. David

If its anxiety, I’m guessing coping mechanisms don’t help anymore?
