Stopping clopidogrel

Hi all, I spoke to my cardiologist yesterday for my post stent review and getting signed off back to the GP, she said as I was having some stomach troubles, and awful acid reflux since being on the clop I can stop it end of November. She said the stent they gave me was a fancy new type one and I didn’t need to stay on the clop if it was causing me problems. Must admit I’m very happy to be stopping it but find my self a little anxious even though she said it was absolutely safe for me to stop it.

She also reviewed my angioplasty and stent procedure video ( she did not perform it as she was locked down in France, so a different cardiac consultant did it) she said it all looked great 😊 and the moderate blockage in my LAD was absolutely fine and only just moderate. Pressure and flow was normal. I’m feeling a lot more positive today after speaking to her 😊 everything was such a blur when I had the stent, I was left confused and wondering if I had remembered what they had told me at the time correctly, and a load of questions I forgot to ask....But I guess a ton of sedation does that to someone 🤣🤣 just wanted to pop on and update you all. Hope you are all doing okay xx

Thank you for the reply, I had a feeling lots of people probably worried about stopping a medication. Fingers crossed all will be fine!

I remember our GP and cardiologist stopping Clopidogrel two months after my hubby had a quad bypass. As acid reflux was a problem anyway, he was put on Omeprazole which did the trick!!! All the very best xxx

I had to stop clopidogrel after 6 months because of unbearable stomach problems. GP suggested it and confirmed by cardio. NO problems since.

I was taken of Clopidogrel after 3 months and am only using the Aspirin. No problems so far and it feels good to be reducing my meds.

I started reducing my clopidogrel dose 3 months after my stent due to side effects. After 6 months I stopped altogether and have been on just aspirin for the last 4 weeks.
